Intended purpose
The medi SAS 15 is a shoulder joint
support for immobilisation and stress
relief.
Indications
For all indications which require
immobilisation and stress relief of the
shoulder joint in abduction, such as:
• Following rotator cuff repair
• Humeral head fractures (nonsurgical,
postoperative)
• After insertion of shoulder prosthesis
• After stabilization of acromioclavicular
joint dislocations
• After biceps tenodesis
• Impingement syndrome (nonsurgical,
postoperative)
Contraindications
All indications which expressly require
external rotation or internal rotation or
abduction of more than 15°.
Risks / Side Effects
If the aids are too tight, this can cause
local pressure sores or constriction of
blood vessels or nerves. Therefore you
should consult the doctor treating you
before you use it if the following
circumstances apply to you:
• Condition or injury of the skin in the
area of application, particularly with
infectious indications (excessive heat,
swelling or reddening)
• Paraesthesia and circulatory disorders
(e.g. as seen in diabetes, varicose veins)
• Lymph drainage disorders – equally,
swelling of soft tissue adjacent to the
area of application which is not related
to a condition
When wearing snug-fitting aids, this can
result in localised skin inflammation or
irritation that is due to mechanical

irritation of the skin (particularly in
conjunction with sweating) or due to the
composition of the material.
Intended patient groups
Healthcare professionals should provide
care to the adults and children, applying
the available information on the
measurements/sizes and necessary
functions/indications and in line with
the information provided by the
manufacturer, and acting under their
own responsibility.
Important notes
Only change the angle of abduction on
instruction to do so from your doctor or
orthotist.
Fitting instructions
We recommend lying on a table for the
application and removal procedure. Pay
attention to the following advice
regarding the application: Make sure the
side release buckles on the front of the
cushion as well as the straps are open.
Put the shoulder and hip belt on the
table.
1. Place the affected arm in the open
sling allowing your hand to rest on the
ball (image 1).
2. Then, fasten all straps (image 2).
3. Pull the hip belt from behind your back
to the front and fasten it (image 3).
4. Pull the shoulder belt over the
uninjured shoulder to the front and
place your arm in the opening
between the shoulder and armpit belt.
Now, close the side release buckles.
Consult your physician regarding
simultaneous usage with other
products.
Care instructions
The product should not be worn in water.
