4.2 Starting the generator
If the operation of the generator is interrupted, and the receiver pressure falls below 5 bar, adjust the 3 way ball valve to isolate the application
instrument from the system and follow the procedure specified in "Commissioning the Generator" on page 11. If the receiver pressure does
not fall below 5 bar it is recommended that the generator be run for 1 hour off line to allow the specified purity to be achieved. It is
recommended that the purity is monitored.
1 Turn the generator on at the power switch and wait for it to enter standby mode.
Note. If the generator was running or in economy mode, when the power was removed, it will
revert to this mode of operation when the power is reapplied.
2 From Standby press
The generator will exhaust for 30 seconds before the Run cycle starts. Gas will then be delivered
to the outlet port.
This generator is designed to run continuously without any user intervention. Under normal operating conditions the display will dim
automatically following 2 minutes of keypad inactivity.
4.3 Economy Shutdown
Economy Shutdown is designed to stop the generator cycling whenever there is no demand for gas. This not only reduces the energy
consumption of the generator, it also prolongs the life cycle of the internal compressor, if fitted, and reduces its servicing requirements.
The generator monitors the back pressure from the application instrument to determine if there is a demand for gas, the pressure rises when
there is no demand. If the pressure exceeds ECOPressureHigh the economy shutdown mode will be initiated. If this pressure is maintained for 5
minutes, the generator will isolate its internal receiver and no gas will be delivered to the application instrument. The generator will continue to
cycle as normal. If the pressure is maintained for an additional 5 minutes, the generator will stop cycling and shutdown into Economy Mode.
Whilst in this operating state, the generator will perform 3 cycles every 2 hours to clean the CMS bed and maintain a high level of purity to allow
instantaneous operation when there is a demand for gas. The internal gas reservoir remains isolated throughout the cleaning cycle, and no gas is
delivered to the application.
When there is a demand for gas, the pressure within the internal gas receiver will drop. As this pressure falls below the ECO Pressure Low value,
the generator will exit economy mode and gas will be delivered to the application instrument.
A small reduction in purity may be experienced for a short period when exiting economy mode.
