Warnings
Appropriate use – The passive headrest is not a head restraint. Before use,
determine if the passive headrest is appropriate for the patient and the
procedure.
Extended use – The pads and straps for use with the passive headrest are
intended for "single use only"—do not reuse. Intended for one use on a single
patient, during a single procedure.
Limited reuses – The passive headrest is designed to be used no more than 10
times. More than 10 uses may result in degradation of the materials. It is the
responsibility of the user to maintain a record of use.
Precautions
Handling – Handle all parts of the passive headrest with care. If any part of the
headrest shows signs of damage, replace the headrest.
Store with nonsterile equipment – Store the headrest with other surgery equipment
not intended to be sterilized. Do not sterilize the passive headrest.
Instructions for use
Attaching
1. Attach the adapter on the back piece of the passive headrest to the Mayfield
starburst connector of the table.
2. Adjust the headrest position and tighten all screws.
3. Ensure the headrest is securely attached to the table.
4. Unclip the front piece of the headrest from the back piece and rest the patient's
head on the back piece of the headrest. Match the headrest contour with the
patient's head contour as best as possible.
5. If adjustment is needed, have the patient sit upright:
a. Loosen the adapter from the starburst connector.
b. Readjust the headrest.
c. Retighten all screws.
Note: After any adjustment, ensure the headrest is securely attached to the starburst
connector of the table.
6. Rest the patient's head on the back piece of the headrest.
7. Attach the front piece of the headrest to the back piece and tighten all straps.
