REARMING INSTRUCTIONS
How to make the Hammar Lifejacket inflator
operational after use
1. Lay lifejacket (PFD) on a flat
surface and wipe off excess water.
Hold the gas cylinder through the
fabric with one hand.
2. Insert and turn opener anti-clock-
wise between black locking ring
and labelled yellow cap.
3. Now turn black locking ring
anti-clockwise and lift off cap.
Dispose carefully of used cap in
an environmen tally safe manner.
4. Take out the inner body with the
gas cylinder, through the sealing
ring.
5. Unscrew the gas cylinder.
NOTE: If hard to unscrew, hold
the black inner body with a soft
tissue/clothing and hold the
cylinder with a pipe pliers or other
holding tool.
Dispose of used gas cylinder in an
environmentally safe manner.
6. Reset the piercing pin by rotating
the shaft in the inner body to a po-
sition where the underside monitor
4
with eyelet surrounds the green
dot in the centre of the indicator.
7. Carefully examine the top of the
new gas cylinder to make sure
that it is not punctured.
The gas cylinder must be FIRMLY
TIGHTENED into the black
inner body. Always ensure that
the cylinder is fully screwed in
until it reaches the bottom of the
threaded hole. If you are unsure
whether the gas cylinder is fully
screwed into the body or not,
always contact your nearest
service station. The black inner
body should be checked for any
damage or cracks following this
tightening.
8. Reinsert gas cylinder and inner
body with gas cylinder pointing
upright inside the lifejacket. Let
the sealing ring rest on the central
body around the four lugs.
9. Now check the automatic/ manual
cap as follows:
Manual/Automatic:
1) Is red handle attached?
2) Is expiry date OK?
3) Window shows green?
Manual:
1) Is red handle attached?
If YES is the answer to ALL these
questions, then proceed
to no 10.
NOTE: Manual activation will not
turn the single point indicator from
green to red. It is only the auto-
matic activation that activates the
indicator.
10. Hold the gas cylinder through
the lifejacket fabric. Take the
replacement cap with the pull tab
pointing in the opposite direction
of the gas cylinder (i.e. down) and
press it FIRMLY on the inner body
and sealing ring.
11.While pressing firmly onto the
inner body, turn the black ring
clock-wise until it snaps in the
locked position.
NOTE: When the inflator is in its
final closed position, the gas cylin-
der, the side of the yellow cap and
the pull handle are all in parallell!
12. CHECK:
When the locking ring is locked, it
cannot be turned anti-clockwise.
If your lifejacket has been used
and/or the Hammar Inflator
replaced, ALWAYS inflate the
jacket through the oral tube and
check that it stays inflated at least
overnight. If the Lifejacket fails the
inflation test contact your nearest
service station for further check.
Empty the lifejacket again by
pushing in the non-return valve in
the top of the oral tube and press
out ALL RESIDUAL AIR from the
bladder, so that the jacket may be
folded properly. Let the lifejacket
dry before packing. When not in
use always store your Lifejacket in
dry and well ventilated space.
Don't forget the annual
service on your lifejacket!
Please remember the periodi cal
checking and inspection of the
rest of the lifejacket. Check the
instructions from the lifejacket
manufacturer. For further infor-
mation on perio dical checking
and annual service, you are
always welcome to visit our web-
site www.cmhammar.com
