Electronic fuse monitoring
Operating Instructions
Read and understand these instructions before installing,
operating, or maintaining the equipment.
DANGER
!
Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Turn off and lock out all power supplying this device before
working on this device.
CAUTION
Reliable functioning of the equipment is only ensured with
certified components.
1. Description
The electronic fuse monitoring (EFM) is an accessory which must be installed by
the customer in the corresponding 3NJ62 fuse block (see EFM installation).
WARNING
If the green LED does not light up despite a live infeed
and correct connection of the electronic fuse monitoring,
the electronic fuse monitoring MUST be exchanged
immediately.
The fuse monitoring functions with its own power supply via the three phases.
The green LED indicates that the EFM is supplied with voltage.
The fuse monitoring records, signals and indicates the states of the fuses. The
EFM operates according to the closed-circuit current principle, which means that
the signaling relay is picked up if there is no fault.
Fuse faults are detected by measuring the voltage upstream and downstream
from the fuse. If the voltage dip falls below a voltage of 20 V ±10 % at any one
of the three fuses, the fuse monitor trips, i.e. the relay opens and the red LED of
the respective fuse lights up.
The indicator lights (LEDs) and the signaling relay always only display the actual
state of the fuses (no memory function).
EFMs are suitable for 3-phase, sinusoidal AC networks (50 / 60 Hz). The 3NJ62
switch disconnector with fuses may only be used in connection with the EFM in
the following types of system in order to secure safe isolation:
• in systems with neutral earthing up to 480 V
• in systems without neutral earthing and single-point earthing up to 277 V
• in single-phase systems without earthing up to 220 V
• in 2-phase systems with earthing up to 440 V.

3. Installation and Connection of the EFM (see graphics pp. 9)
NOTICE
The wires must be precisely laid according to the graphics for the
respective sizes (pages 9 - 14). Otherwises problems could arise
when the auxiliary switch is installed.
This is a Class A product. When used in a household setting, this
device can cause radio interference; in this case the user may be
requested to carry out respective measures to avoid such radio
interference.
WARNING
Wires which are not connected must be insulated!
