2.5 Activating the display lighting
Depress the „ENT" (6) button for
approximately 1-2 seconds. The lighting
comes on for approximately 5 seconds and
then goes off again.
2.6 Changing the display
If you want to change the display press
the „MODE" (5) button until the desired
information is shown (compass, temperature
or time).
2.7 Reading the compass
There is a small arrow at the edge of the
display with the letter „N". This always
shows north. It doesn't matter which way
you move the binoculars.
The large letters „N", „NE", „S", etc, in the
centre of the display show the actual
direction. The directional abbreviations have
the following meanings.
N
= North
S
= South
NE
= Northeast
SW
= Southwest
E
= East
W
= West
GB/IR
SE
= Southwest
NW
= Northwest
Below the directional display the degrees are
shown (0° - 360°)
2.8 Changing the batteries
2 round cell batteries are needed (e.g. Type
AG 12). To change the batteries please
proceed as follows. First undo the screw on
the threaded tripod connection (7) on which
both lens dust protection caps are secured.
A small cover is installed adjacent to it.
Remove the inner plate of the cover using
a sharp instrument such as a small
screwdriver. The plate is self-adhesive and
can easily be lifted up. Underneath it is a
threaded cover (8). Open it with a suitable
screwdriver. The round cells are in the
battery compartment beneath it. They are
available from any good electrical shop. You
can of course obtain them from the Meade
Service Centre if you wish. Please request
this from your dealer or directly from Meade
Instruments Europe. Both batteries have their
+ pole uppermost in the shaft. Remove each
carefully with pincers and then insert the
new ones in the same way.
