1. DESCRIPTION
GCE Safe Guard-2 model SP20 / FR20 / MV93 fl ashback arrestor (FBA) is manu-
factured to EN ISO 5175-1 and is used to prevent fl ashbacks in oxy/fuel systems.
Four models available for connection to - regulator (model RP) - hose line (model
TT) - torch/hose (TF) -torch/threaded (FF).
Gas service; Oxygen (O) 10 bar and acetylene (A) 1.5 bar, hydrogen (H), propane
(P), methane (M) 5bar.
EN
Safety features, sintered fl ame arresting element plus non return valve to pre-
vent reverse fl ow of gases.
2. INSTALLATION
Before installing the FBA ensure connections are clean and free from damage.
Ensure hands and tools free from from oil and grease.
Always connect observing the direction of gas fl ow which is marked with an
arrow on the product.
Ensure that the inlet pressure rating on the supply to the FBA is lower than or
equal to the inlet pressure rating on the FBA.
Pressurise the system and check all joints for leaks with approved leak detection
fl uid.
Once the FBA has been dedicated to a particular gas service it should not be
changed to be used on other gases.
For use only with the gases and maximum operating pressures listed on the
product label.
3. SERVICE LIFE
This FBA contains no user serviceable parts. This FBA has a Maximum Service
Life of 5 years counted from date of fi rst installation. Ageing, contamination and
wear of internal components is time and condition usage dependant and ex-
ceeding the Maximum Service Life can result in increased fl ow resistance, lower
reliability and higher accident risk. Maximum Service Life is based on the use of
FBA in typical industrial conditions without mechanical or thermal damage and
having the suggested Periodical Check performed regularly. Maximum Service
Life period is not to be confused with Product Warranty.
4. PERIODICAL CHECKS
This FBA must be checked at least annually for non return valve function, fl ow
rate, and leakage.
The contact address of the nearest authorised service centre can be provided
on request by your GCE representative.
In the event of malfunction such as no fl ow, reverse fl ow, or leakage from the
FBA the device must be replaced.
