Place the UniVision lens on the patient's spectacles in the
desired position. Remove the suction cup by bending
the handle downward until the suction breaks.
Evaluate the lens position by having the patient read printed material.
Both horizontal and vertical positioning should be checked.
If necessary, reposition the lens with the suction cup. Pull the suction
cup/lens towards you and off the spectacle lens. If you have difficulty
removing the lens, place the suction cup at the edge of the UniVision
lens and pull.
Once the optimal position is found, outline the entire UniVision lens on
the ocular (back) side of the spectacle lens with a grease pencil or
removable marker.
Permanent Positioning
Remove the UniVision lens from the spectacle lens with the suction
cup. Rest the lens with the suction cup on its side. Clean the spectacle
lens surface. Ensure the surface is dry and free of lint.
While holding the UniVision lens with the suction cup
attached, gently peel off the remaining ring using the tap.
Centre the lens on the front of the spectacle lens within
the area marked earlier. Press down firmly and remove
suction cup.
Press the lens between the thumb and forefinger to ensure adhesion.
Clean all surfaces well with mild soap lens cleaning solution. DO NOT
USE ALCOHOL ON THE UNIVISION LENS. Alcohol will not damage the
lens but will affect the adhesive.
Removing UniVision from the Spectacles
Use your spectacle frame warmer (blower type or salt warmer) to apply
heat to the UniVision lens for 10-20 seconds.
With your thumb, apply pressure to the UniVision lens by pushing
against the side (edge).
If the lens does not come off, reheat the lens for another 10-20 seconds
and repeat step 2.
