Operating instructions for welding and cutting torch for autogenous technology
These operating instructions serve to allow the intended and safe use of the torch.
Reading and observing the operating instructions will help to avoid dangers, to reduce downtimes and to
increase the reliability and service life of the devices.
These operating instructions must always be available at hand.
For safety notes, please also refer to item 3
Consult the manufacturer / distributing company in cases of doubt
0. Notes for the user
0.1 Expert knowledge and training for the user
Of course working appliances and systems requiring monitoring must only be operated by persons who are
over 18 years of age and physically capable.
The handling with these working appliances requires expert knowledge from the user or the instructions by a
qualifies person according to the German regulations on health and safety at the working place (BetrSichV). It
is recommended to instruct the staff at least once per year.
0.2 Personal protective equipement
The necessary personal protective equipment must be used.
1. Description
1.1 Type description
Combined welding and cutting torches consist of a handle piece with adjusting valves and different inserts.
These inserts are selected according to the corresponding application procedure and connected to the
handle piece forming a torch ready for use.
1.2 Description of the mixed systems
e.g. combustion burner, pressure burner, symbols according to DIN ISO 5172 are indicated on the mixed
systems. ( I= combustion burner, II =pressure burner, for further details, please refer to item 4)
2. Use
2.1 Proper use:
This working appliance must only be used for the autogenous process.
Depending on the torch insert they will be used for welding, flame cutting. heating up or flame blasting
Indications on the range of capacity e.g.
Welding 0.5 – 30mm
Flame cutting.. 3 – 200mm
Soldering and heating up Sizes from 4 to 8
Flame cutting torch width 50 – 250mm.
2.1.1 Oxy-fuel gas
It is possible to use different combustible gasses or also just one combustible gas for different autogenous
processes
Welding
Acetylene ( A )
Burn cut
Acetylene ( A ), propane ( P ), natural gas ( M ), hydrogen ( H ), nethylacetylene-
Heating up Propane Mixture
Soldering
Flame basting
If different color codes are used, it applies
Blue = oxygen: blue= oxygen red = combustible gas black = compressed air
The interchangeability of the torch for several combustible gas; it bears all code letters of the gases.
Deviating hereof some appliances might be marked with the code letter "F". The operating data include all
details on combustible gases.
The used combustible gas is mixed with oxygen in the torch. It is also possible to use compressed air for the
processes heating up and soldering. This is only applicable if the torch insert is also marked to be used with
compressed air.
It is only allowed to use oxy-fuel gases which are marked for the corresponding torch insert. The alternate
use of different oxy-fuel gases with the same torch insert is only allowed if the oxy-fuel gas is mixed with
oxygen or air in the torch nozzle (gas mixing nozzle). Observe the gas type labeling on the torch nozzle.
