1 General information on the servo brake and drive system, and
the manual

1.1 Functionality of equipment set TP 1410

Equipment set TP 1410 (servo brake and drive system or motor test bench for short) is a complete load and
drive system. It allows for the analysis of test objects under various load conditions.
The concept assures clear differentiation between test object and load. A practical quick-change system
makes it fast and easy to set up and change test objects (motors). Test objects are connected via the

Simple experiments, for example recording characteristic curves, can be conducted without PC and
software. The integrated display indicates measured values, characteristic values and mode of function.
Diverse possibilities are provided in combination with convenient DriveLab software, which is matched to
the servo brake and drive system from Festo Didactic.
Nearly all electrical circuits and drives used in industrial, commercial and household applications can be
elucidated in a practical manner which meets the needs of training curricula with the help of the electrical
teaching machines.
These include:
Single-phase and 3-phase drives
DC drives
State-of-the-art servo drives

1.2 Important general note

Safety precautions and regulations are not disruptive, but rather prevent disturbances and enhance safety
during use of the system. For this reason, everyone who works with the system must be familiar with, and
adhere to them. This applies as well to rules and regulations regarding accident prevention at the location of
use.
This manual includes the most important instructions for safe use of the system.

1.3 Use for intended purpose

The equipment set may only be used:
For its intended purpose in teaching and training applications
In order to control drives which correspond to the performance ratings specified for the test bench (see
specifications in section 6, "Technical data")
With correctly mounted and connected test object (see section 4, "Operation")
When its safety functions are in flawless condition
