Remove taillights – All models, Open tailgate. Remove the plastic cover near taillight by removing (1) plastic fastener with a flat screw driver, both sides. Using a 10mm socket,

remove (2) hex nuts holding taillight, both sides. See Figure 2.
2018 – current models, Remove interior panel from each side of cargo area to gain access behind taillights and remove (1) bolt located behind interior panel. Gently pull the taillights
rearward, disconnect the wiring from taillights and set aside.
Remove underbody panel - Using an 8mm and 10mm deep socket, remove screws and hex nuts (varies by model year) from underbody panel and set aside.. See Figure 9.

Remove fascia:
a.) Using an 8mm socket remove (1) screw holding fascia below taillight area. See Figure 3. (Steps are typical both sides)
b.) Using a plastic trim panel tool remove the reflector from fascia. Behind reflector, remove (1) screw using an 8mm socket.
c.) Using an 8mm socket remove (2) or (3) screws along bottom outer edge of fascia and (1) screw from inside wheel well near the bottom.
d.) Using a 10mm socket remove (1) plastic hex nut from wheel well liner.
e.) Using a 1/8" drill bit, drill out the center of (4) rearmost plastic rivets holding the wheel well trim. Using a trim panel tool remove remaining rivet heads.
f.) Using a trim panel tool gently remove the lower part of the wheel well trim to expose (2) screws holding fascia. See Figure 4.
g.) Using an 8mm socket remove (2) screws from behind wheel well trim.
h.) Using a trim panel tool, remove the fascia starting at the outer edges near wheel wells while gently pulling the fascia.
i.) Disconnect the wiring harness from fascia and set fascia aside.

2011 – 2017 models only:
Remove plastic fascia supports - Using a 10mm deep well socket, remove (4) hex nuts from the (2) plastic fascia supports, (1) per side. See Figure 5.
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or
ball which has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch.
