•
Regularly clean the product with a cloth slightly dampened with soap solution. Cleaning with
chemicals or solvents is not permissible, since there is a risk of material damage and loss of
functionality.
•
The knee joint must not be lubricated or greased, since there is a risk of material damage and
loss of functionality.
•
Always make use of the handrail when negotiating stairs.
•
Do not unlock the knee joint while walking or under flexion moment loading.
•
Put weight on the knee joint only when it is fully extended and has been locked. Be sure you
hear the lock latch's acoustic feedback when locking the knee joint.
•
If the pull cable becomes entangled, this can lead to unlocking of the knee joint and cause the
standing or walking patient to fall. In such a case, apply a slight flexion moment to test whether
the knee joint has locked again.
•
When handling the knee joint without the cosmetic foam cover, be careful not to get your fingers
jammed.
•
When extending and locking the knee joint, ensure that the cosmetic foam cover does not get
caught since this could prevent the joint from locking correctly.
4 Maintenance Instructions
Otto Bock recommends readjusting the knee joint's settings once the patient has gotten used to
the prosthesis. This period of time varies depending on individual patient characteristics.
It is recommended to have the 3R41 examined by a prosthetist for visible signs of wear and tear
as well as damage within the scope of a routine inspection (at least once a year). As a precau-
tion, retighten the Allen screw (wrench size 4 mm) of the tube clamp to 10 Nm. If necessary, the
O-ring (Fig. 1, item 1; see section 10) and the elastomer elements (Fig. 1, item 2) can be replaced
at that time. Note the correct mounting orientation during installation (Fig. 7).
Special attention should be paid to the movement, unlocking, and locking resistance, the bearing
clearance, and to unusual noise. Full flexion and extension must be guaranteed.

6 Description and Function
The 3R41 is a monocentric knee joint with lock. Through the use of plastics, we managed to pro-
duce a lightweight knee joint which is easy to maintain.
6.1 Joint Lock
The lock mechanism, which is located in the upper joint section, automatically secures the joint in
the extended position; you can hear and feel the latch lock in place.
