3)
Check the outside of the tube for damage. The surface must be smooth and free of burs. If a
damaged tube is inserted into the knee joint, this can impair the strength of the knee joint.
4)
Lift the plastic flap slightly and insert the tube up to the stop.
5)
Using a 710D4 torque wrench, tighten the Allen screw (wrench size 4 mm) of the tube clamp
(Fig. 2, item 2) to 10 Nm.
7.6 Mounting the Knee Joint to the Socket
The contact surfaces of the pyramid adapter and pyramid receiver must be undamaged, clean
and smooth. Static corrections are possible at any time during alignment and trial walking as well
as after completion of the prosthesis using the four adjustment screws.
Make sure that the set screws of the adapters used have the appropriate length. Set screws
which are too short may not provide adequate stability for the prosthesis. Screws which are too
long can damage the cosmetic foam cover.
Note!
Apply 636K13 Loctite to the set screws, screw in and slightly tighten them. Then ad-
just the adapter and tighten the set screws to the prescribed torque. For the tightening
torques please refer to the Instructions for Use of the corresponding adapters. Use a
710D4 torque wrench.
To test the functionality, unlock the knee joint and flex it fully. The socket must contact the tube
clamp cover (Fig. 3).
Attention!
The upper joint section must not contact the lower joint section, since this could put too
much strain on the knee joint.
8 Finishing the Prosthesis
Upon delivery, the perlon cord loop and pull cable are connected to the 3R41. Cut off the pull
cable such that it is slightly taut but does not yet cause the knee joint to unlock. The pull cable
should only be unlocked after a pull stroke of approx. 10 mm. The pull cable should be on the
lateral side of the prosthesis.
Note!
If the perlon cord loop has been cut by mistake, do not pull the cord through the knee
joint. The cord may only be threaded by an Otto Bock service technician after disas-
sembly of the knee joint.
9 Cosmetic Foam Cover
Use the 3S107 Foam Cover for the 3R41.
10 Replacing the O-Ring (Fig. 11)
1)
Remove the screw (item 1).
2)
Bend up the tube clamp cover slightly (item 2) and remove the O-ring (item 5).
Note!
Make sure that the pin with the bore (item 3) and the pin with the internal thread (item 4)
do not fall out!
