Users Manual/Maintenance Instructions for Charging Batteries NiMH
Purpose: The charging batteries are to be used as an energy source for the relevant KaWe products.
Unsuited Use / Contraindication of the Products:
Any use other than that described here is not in accordance with the intended use of this product. The manufacturer is not liable for any resulting damages. The
user alone bears the risk.
Possible risks:
• Avoid short-circuiting the charging batteries
• Never bring the charging batteries into contact with solutions.
Further information, maintenance, storage:
• The charging batteries can be cleaned with a damp cloth and then be wiped off with a dry fabric. Please ensure that no short-circuit is produced.
• Further maintenance instructions that may prolong the lifetime of the charging battery:
Please heed the following instructions. The non-observance of these instructions may result in the accumulator loosing its full capacity within a short
period of time.
NiMH technology can stimulate a lazy battery eff ect that is analogous to the classic memory eff ect, which is triggered by the energy that has not been completely
spent prior to recharging the battery. This eff ect can be nearly eliminated by completely discharging the accumulator from time to time and then by recharging it
two or three times in quick succession. Subsequently, the accumulator will regain its complete capability.
In the case that the accumulator does no longer provide suffi cient energy to operate the unit, immediately turn off the unit and charge the accumulator (in order
to prevent overcharging and the resulting destruction of the accumulator).
Please keep in mind that the charging batteries can spontaneously discharge. When the charging batteries are not used (charged) for a longer time, a
self-discharge may occur. The capacity will be lost and the accumulators may become permanently defective. The manufacturer is not liable for any resulting
damages. Therefore, when stored for more than one month, the accumulators should be partially charged to approx. 50%.
Please always respect the given charging time in order to prevent overcharging and the resulting destruction of the accumulator (the KaWe charging station
MedCharge® 3000 has an integrated automatic shut-off ).
NiMH accumulators with low temperatures show a loss of capacity (already at temperatures of 0°C).
• Keep the accumulators away from heating installations and open fl ames.
• Accumulators must not be dipped into water or salt water.
• Never try to disassemble or modify the accumulators or expose them to heat.
• Avoid dropping the accumulators and protect them against being hit or crushed as this may damage the housing.
• Please only use the accumulators and accessory parts recommended by KaWe.
The use of accumulators that are not explicitly approved for these units may cause explosions or leakages and the risk of fi re, injuries and damages to
surroundings. In the case that an accumulator obtains a leak and spilled substances come into contact with eyes, mouth, skin or clothing, immediately rinse
the relevant spot with water and consult a doctor.
• When charging is completed and the charging unit and the compact adapter are no longer in use, please separate them from the unit and the socket in order
to avoid fi res and other risks.
• Do not cover the charging unit with any kind of material (table clothes, carpets, bedclothes etc.) during operation. If you use the adapter for a longer period
of time, it may become overheated, loose its original shape or catch fi re.
• Please only charge the accumulator in the appropriate accumulator charging unit.
The charging unit and the compact adapter have been developed especially for being used with your product. Please do not use them with other products or
accumulators.
• All other products may cause the risk of excessive heat and distortion and thus the risk of fi re and electric shock.
Prior to disposal of the accumulator, ensure that the contacts are masked with adhesive strips or other insulating material in order to prevent their direct contact
with other matters.
Contact with other metallic material in trash cans may cause the risk of fi re and injuries.
