• This appliance is not designed to be used as
a replacement for a vehicular battery. Do not
attempt to operate a vehicle that does not have a
battery installed.
• This appliance is designed to be used only on
vehicles with a 12 volt DC battery system. Do
not connect to a 6 volt or 24 volt battery system.
Do not use the appliance for charging dry-cell
batteries that are commonly used with home
appliances. These batteries may burst and cause
injury to persons and damage property.
Warning! Explosive gas may be vented from
the lead-acid batteries when charging and under
extreme conditions battery leakage may occur.
Make sure that the area is well ventilated when
conducting jump starting and charging procedures.

USE
Warning! Make sure that the functioning car is in
neutral and the parking brake is applied.
Step 1
Connect the black 12 Vdc accessory plug into the
12 V outlet on the working vehicle and make sure
that the power LED lights green.
Notes:
Some vehicles require that the ignition key be turned
to the Accessory position to activate the 12 volt DC
accessory outlet.
If the Power LED Indicator does not light, the Black 12
Volt DC Accessory Plug is not connected properly to the
working car's 12 Volt DC Accessory Outlet. Rotate the
plug again to assure good contact.
If the Power LED Indicator lights solid red, the battery
of the working car is in a fault condition, such as low
battery voltage, high battery voltage or overheated.
Step 2
Warning! Make sure that the dead car is in neutral
and the parking brake is applied.
Fully unwind the cord from the cord storage and
connect the orange 12 Vdc accessory plug into
the 12 V outlet on the dead vehicle and make sure
that the boosting LED flashes red, indicating the
charging process has begun.
Notes:
Some vehicle require that the ignition key has to be on
the Accessory position to activate the DC Accessory
Outlet.

If the boosting LED indicator does not light, the Orange
12 volt DC accessory plug is not connected properly to
the 12 volt DC accessory outlet of the dead car. Rotate
the plug again to assure good contact.
If the boosting LED indicator lights solid red, the battery
of the dead car is in a fault condition.
Step 3
• When the dead car is sufficiently boosted to start
the engine both the power LED and the boosting
LED will change colour to green (approx. 20
minutes).
• Remove the orange 12 Vdc accessory plug from
the dead car and try starting the vehicle in 3-5
second bursts.
Note:
The housing and the 12 Vdc accessory plugs will
become warm during the boosting process. This is
normal.
Step 4
• If vehicle doesn't start after the first attempt;
recharge for an additional 10-20 minutes.
• Repeat step 3.
• If the second attempt doesn't start the car, please
discontinue usage and call the service center. The
battery may be damaged.
Step 5
Remove the black 12 Vdc accessory plug from
the working car and coil the cable around the cord
storage and fit the 12 Vdc accessory plugs into the
plug storage apertures .
MAINTENANCE
Your Black & Decker tool has been designed to
operate over a long period of time with a minimum
of maintenance.
Continuous satisfactory operation depends upon
proper care and regular cleaning.
Warning! Before performing any maintenance or
cleaning on the appliance, unplug the appliance.
• From time to time wipe the appliance with a damp
cloth. Do not use any abrasive or solvent-based
cleaner. Do not immerse the appliance in water.
• Clean the outside case with a soft cloth and, if
necessary, mild soap solution.
• Do not allow liquid to enter the unit. Do not
operate when the unit is wet.
• Keep the cords coiled during storage to prevent
damage to the cords.

TROUBLESHOOTING
If the power and boosting LEDs do not
light up check the following:
• If the battery to be charged has fallen below
2 volts, the battery cannot be recharged with
this unit.
• Check that the functioning vehicle's 12 V
accessory socket is live, some cars require the
key to be in the accessory position before the
socket is live.
• Check that the 12 Vdc accessory plugs are fully
inserted.
• Check for blown fuses in the 12 Vdc accessory
plugs .
If your car fails to start:
• Repeat steps 2-4 in the "Use" section and
continue the boosting process for a further
10 minutes or until the LEDs change to green.
• If your car still fails to start we suggest you
have your battery checked by a qualified auto-
electrician.
Replacing the fuse in the vehicle dc
accessory plug
• Remove the cap by turning it counter clockwise.
• Remove the cap and centre pin.
• Remove the fuse.
• Fit a new fuse of the same type and size (12 A).
• Refit the cap and centre pin.
• Tighten the cap by turning clockwise onto the
plug.

warranty is not transferable and is only valid
