68 | MERCURE 200 | Balancing a wheel
i The external weight can be either a spring-clip
weight of an adhesive weight according to the se-
lected balancing program.
¶
See chap.9.8 to fix the spring-clip weights.
¶
See chap. 9.9.2 to fix the adhesive weights with
internal clamp.
9.7.2
Spring-clip weights and adhesive weights for
non standard programs
i Measurement evaluation:
The left display shows the value for the adhesive
weight that must be applied by way of electronic
calliper gauge (Alu2 e Pax2) or as a clamp weight
(Alu3).
The value for the adhesive weight to be attached
by way of the outer weight pliers appears in the
right-hand display.
Internal weight fixing:
1. Turn the wheel by hand.
The LED (Fig. 36, pos.8) lights-up as soon as the
correct position for fixing the balancing weight is
reached and an acoustic signal sounds to confirm
the correct position.
i Block the wheel with the pedal.
2. Fasten the balancing weight of the value indicated
on the left display in the highest perpendicular posi-
tion (12 o'clock) of the wheel if it is a clamp weight,
otherwise use the electronic calliper gauge for an
adhesive weight.
i For adhesive weight, the application position is de-
termined by electronic calliper gauge geometry.

External weight fixing:
1. Turn the wheel by hand.
The LED (Fig. 36, pos.2) lights-up as soon as the
correct position for fixing the balancing weight is
reached and an acoustic signal sounds to confirm
the correct position.
i Block the wheel with the pedal.
2. Apply the balancing weight of the value shown on
the right-hand display using the electronic calliper
gauge.
¶
See chap. 9.9.2 to fix the adhesive weights with
internal clamp.
9.7.3
Splitting the balancing weights (Split program)
i The external weight hidden behind the spokes can
be applied for non-standard programs (ALU2, ALU3,
Pax2).
i If the balancing weights must be fastened behind
one or two spokes, the Split program must be acti-
vated after the measurement.
1. Press the <SPLIT> button.
The left display shows N and the right display
shows the currently set number of spokes.
Both <SPLIT> button LEDs (Fig. 36, pos.3) light
up.
2. Use <-> or <+> to enter the number of spokes.
The value is shown in the right-hand display.
3. Turn the wheel until the spoke is in 12 o'clock posi-
tion and press <SPLIT>.
The spoke position is now memorised.
Only one <SPLIT> button LED lights up.
The value of the required balancing weight is
shown in the right-hand display.
4. Turn the wheel by hand.
As soon as the position for attaching the balanc-
ing weight is reached, the LED (Fig. 36, pos.2)
lights up. An acoustic signal confirms that the po-
sition is correct (behind a spoke).
i Block the wheel with the pedal.
5. Fasten the balancing weight with the required value
in the uppermost (12 o'clock) position of the wheel.
¶
When fastening adhesive weights with electronic cal-
liper gauge, see chap 9.9.1.
6. Continue turning the wheel manually to fix the other
balancing weight behind the spoke
The other <SPLIT> button LED lights up.
Repeat points 4 and 5.
