Service Schedules

To make sure your Trencher keeps working to maximum
efficiency, it is essential that it is properly and regularly
maintained in accordance with the service schedules
included in this manual.
Badly maintained equipment can be a danger to the
operator and the people working around him. Make sure
that the regular maintenance and lubrication jobs listed in
the service schedules are done to keep the equipment in a
safe and efficient working condition.
Daily
Clean
1 The Trencher, digging chain, its hoses and quick
release couplings.
Grease
2 Shaft bearings via the grease nipple.
3 Nose idler bearings via the grease nipple - Do not over
grease.
Check (engine stopped)
4 For damage to the digging teeth.
5 Torque tightness of the securing bolts/nuts.
6 Digging chain tension. There should be at least 30 mm
of play in the chain.
7 Spoil Auger for wear and tightness of the two
attachments bolts.
8 Trench Cleaner Assembly (optional) for free play of the
sliding head and the mounting bolt for tightness.
Weekly
Do the 2-4 hour daily jobs plus:
Check (engine stopped)
1 Motor drive chain, adjust and lubricate. The chain
should have 2-3 cm of free play.
Note: Items may require more frequent checking in ardu-
ous conditions.

MAINTENANCE
A1461-1
Every 500 Hours or Yearly
(whichever occurs first)
This annual service is best carried out by the JCB
Distributor.
1 Overhaul the Trencher, see your JCB Distributor.
2 Measure circuit flows, pressures and back pressures
(see SPECIFICATIONS).
3 Renew carrier hydraulic filter(s).
4 Renew warning decals.
5 Check and replace hoses and quick release couplings
as required.
Note: Chain lubricant ( JCB part number 891/04025 )
should be applied to a warm chain. Allow the lubricant time
to soak in before recommencing work.
Chain Tensioner Gease Cylinder Port (X)
The chain should have approximately 2-3 cm of sag when
at correct tension.
Note: The Grease cylinder is very powerful making it very
easy to overtighten the digging chain which can damage
the end roller bearing.
Grease Nipple for Hub Shaft (Y)
