Harmonic Balancer Puller/Installer Kit
Puller Usage Instructions
1. Loosen and remove the bolts attaching the fan pulley
to balancer (if still installed). See figure a. Remove the
pulley if possible. Spray penetrating oil on the large
crankshaft bolt located in the center of the harmonic
balancer. This bolt holds the harmonic balancer to
the end of the crankshaft. Loosen and remove this
bolt from the end of the crankshaft, noting that
a flywheel locking tool or impact wrench may be
necessary to remove this large bolt, as they are often
quite tight. See figure b.
2. With the pulley bolts and crankshaft bolt removed,
remove the fan pulley from the harmonic balancer if
it was not possible to remove it in step 1. See figures
c and d. Insert the notched puller adapter into the
threaded end of the puller center screw assembly
and tighten. See figure e and f.
