Master Bearing Race and Seal Driver Set
Usage Instructions:
1. Remove seal with seal removing tool (shown), pry bar or large screwdriver.
See figure a. With seal removed, carefully clean area and inspect surface
where the seal fits for damage. See figure b. If the seal alone is to be
replaced, skip bearing removal and proceed to step 4. If the bearing is also
to be replaced, go to the next step.
2. Remove the bearing from the bearing race, taking care not to damage axle
surfaces. Roller bearings in rear axles can be difficult to remove and may
come out in several pieces. With the bearing removed, carefully clean and
inspect the surface where the bearing fits for damage.
3. To install bearing, select an adapter whose larger side most closely matches
diameter of the new bearing. See figure c. Fit the adapter to the driver handle
and install and tighten bolt and washer. See figure d.
4. Position the bearing into the opening in the axle. See figure e. Position the
adapter over the bearing. Strike the end of the handle with a hammer until
the bearing is driven into the axle and fully seated. See figure f.
5. To install seal, select an adapter whose smaller/tapered side most closely
matches diameter of the new seal. See figure g. Fit the adapter to the driver
handle and install and tighten bolt and washer. See figure h.
6. Position the seal into the opening in the axle and check fit. See figure i. Place
the adapter against the outer edge of the seal. See figure j. Strike the end
of the handle with a hammer until the seal is driven into the axle and fully
seated. See figure k. Check the seal to ensure it is not cocked or damaged
and is fully seated.
