3.0 Safety instructions
Warning! If you detect an odour of gas:
•
Shut off the gas to the premises.
•
Open all windows and doors.
•
Extinguish all naked flames.
•
Do not light the stove or any other appliance.
•
Do not use electrical switches or the telephone.
•
Contact the fire department immediately from a neighbour's
telephone.
•
The stove must only be installed and repaired by qualified
personnel.
•
Always turn off the gas supply before service.
•
The stove must be inspected following installation and at
least once a year by qualified personnel.
•
The stove must only use gas of the correct type and pressure
See technical data for more details.
•
The stove is pre-set for natural gas G20. If propane or butane is
to be used, the stove must to be converted with a conversion kit.
This is only to be installed by qualified personnel.
•
It is permitted to install the stove against a wall made of
combustible material with the clearances specified in fig. 1.
•
The stove must only be used if it is connected to a vent system
approved by Jøtul.
•
The stove must only be installed indoors.
•
The minimum clearance to combustible material in front of
the stove is 700 mm.
•
Never store combustible gas or liquid in the same room with
the stove.
•
The air regulator on the burner must only be adjusted by
qualified personnel.
•
If any parts of the stove have been submerged in water,
contact qualified service personnel to replace these parts.
•
Never light the stove without the front glass in place or if the
glass is cracked.
•
Do not burn solid fuel in the stove.
•
Do not place combustible material on or near the stove, as it
becomes very hot in use.
•
Be aware that the stove becomes hot and make sure to keep
children and animals at a safe distance.
•
A suitable fireguard must be used for young children the
elderly or infirm.

3.1 Safety clearances
Min. distance from insert's heat shield to wall of flammable
material: See fig. 1.
Min. distance between furniture and the front of the fireplace:
700 mm.

3.2 Clearances for position of flue vent

Clearance from public walkway or motor road –2.1m
•
Note! Do not install the vent over a walkway or motor road,
which is located between 2 individual family houses and is
used by both households.
3.3 Position of outdoor exhaust hood
For further information (vent system Ø 100/150 mm): see manual
for Balanced flue system.
•
If the clearance from ground level to the terminal exhaust
hood is less than 3 m, the hood must be protected by a wire
mesh guard.
•
The clearance over the terminal must be minimum 300 mm
to protruding parts of the building.
•
Do not place the exhaust hood under any ventilation
opening,
•
Do not place the exhaust hood closer than 300 mm from the
side/above any ventilation opening.
•
Do not place the exhaust hood closer than 300 mm to opening
window.
•
Clearance from ground level, balcony or similar to the exhaust
hood must be at least 300 mm.
•
Do not place the gas cylinder closer to the exhaust hood than
1 metre.
