ADDITIONAL RIDING MOWER WARNINGS
AND SAFETY RULES WHEN FRONT MOUNT
DETHATCHER ATTACHMENT IS USED
WARNING:
Your RYOBI electric riding lawn mower has been tested
for use with the Brinly Model DT-38RY Front Mount De-
thatcher. This front mount dethatcher attachment is not
manufactured or distributed by Techtronic Industries
Power Equipment. To reduce the risk of death or seri-
ous personal injury, user must read and understand the
safety information provided in the operator's manual
for Brinly's front mount dethatcher attachment before
assembling, installing, or using on your RYOBI electric
riding lawn mower.
WARNING:
The installation of the front mount dethatcher attachment
adds additional safety considerations when using your
riding mower. Inspect the area to be dethatched carefully
before operating the riding mower with the front mount
dethatcher attachment. Avoid rocks, pipes, roots, curbs,
drop-offs, or any heavy obstructions. Check carefully for
live electrical wires or cords that can come in contact with
and/or be damaged by the dethatcher tines and never
use the front mount dethatcher attachment in these areas
or first have the wires or cords safely removed. Obstruc-
tions that become caught in the front mount dethatcher
attachment or its tines can cause loss of control or stabil-
ity and possible rollover of your riding mower, which can
result in death or serious personal injury. Contact with
or damage of live electrical wires or cords can result in
death by electrocution or other serious personal injury.
WARNING:
Be especially careful when maneuvering with the front
mount dethatcher attachment installed as it can limit
visibility. Lift the dethatcher tines to the highest setting
off the ground when you are not dethatching to prevent
the tines from becoming caught on the ground or other
obstructions. Always look closely for small children,
bystanders, and pets, and move the mower slowly to
prevent rollover accidents that can cause death or seri-
ous personal injury.
WARNING:
Slopes are a major factor related to tip-over and roll-
over accidents that can result in severe injury or death.
Operation on slopes requires extra caution, especially
when using the front mount dethatcher attachment. If you
feel uneasy on a slope, do not use the riding mower with
front mount dethatcher attachment on it. For your safety,
do not attempt to use the front mount dethatcher attach-
ment on slopes greater than 15 degrees. Make a copy or
cut out the slope guide image in this operator's manual
for your RYOBI electric riding lawn mower and use to
determine if your slope is too steep for safe operation.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in
objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in possible
serious injury.
NOTICE:
Before each use, inspect the entire product for damaged,
missing, or loose parts such as screws, nuts, bolts, caps,
etc. Tighten securely all fasteners and caps and do not
operate this product until all missing or damaged parts
are replaced. Please contact customer service or an au-
thorized service center for the manufacturer of your front
mount front mount dethatcher attachment for assistance.
