When to change the filter cartridge
When the water flow is noticeably reduced it is time to change the car-
tridge. Generally you should change the cartridge every three months, how-
ever, water conditions vary greatly and you may need to change your car-
tridge more frequently.
Step 1. Close the gate valves on both sides of the filter and press the pres-
sure release button.
Step 2. Unscrew the filter canister and remove the cartridge. Inspect the
O-Ring and lubricate with petroleum jelly if necessary. For proper
sealing the O-Ring should be replaced every three cartridge
changes.
Step 3. Replace the filter cartridge and reinstall the filter canister. Open the
gate valves on both sides of the filter and press the pressure release
button to remove trapped air.
Under Sink Installations
(Use Flotec Installation Kit Model "USKit", sold separately)
Step 1. Turn off cold water supply to faucet by closing shutoff valve located
under the sink. If your sink does not have a shutoff valve you will
need to turn off the water supply to the house. Cut the 3/8-inch cop-
per cold water line leading to the faucet and bend the ends slightly
apart (Figure 4).
Step 2. Insert the quick connect fittings onto each end of the copper line
and hand-tighten nut (Figure 5).
NOTE: Do not overtighten plastic fittings. Damage to the fittings
may occur and cause leakage.
Step 3. Thread connector fittings into the filter head and mount the filter
housing to the wall using screws supplied (Figure 5). Allow at least
3" clearance under filter assembly for cartridge changing. Insert the
IN
3/8-inch plastic water line into each side of the filter housing and
into the quick connect fittings installed onto the copper water line
and hand-tighten nuts (Figure 4).
Step 4. Turn on the water supply and open the faucet. Thoroughly flush the
filter by running water for 2 minutes.
