[20] Patient stop switch
The patient stop switch must be connected to
socket [16]. Treatment cannot start unless the
patient stop switch is connected!
The switch should be handed to the patient and
its use should be explained.
The patient stop switch is an emergency stop.
Make sure that this emergency stop can be used
by the patient during the whole treatment.
If it is pressed during treatment, the traction
force will be reduced to the minimum of 15 N
at the maximum change over speed, and the
buzzer will sound. The remaining treatment time
is still visible on the display
The patient stop switch must be tested every
day before use.
The procedure is as follows:
• Connect the cord to the 'frame' on which the
ELTRAC is mounted (couch, wall bar bracket
or mobile traction frame).
• Adjust the traction force to 500 N
• Adjust a long enough treatment time (e.g. 5 min)
• Start the "treatment', so that the force can go
to 500 N.
• Push the patient stop switch.
• The cord must now loosen itself.
[21] Mains input and mains fuses
The mains cable provided should be connected
to this socket. Two fuses (T0.315AH250V) are
used (CSA 901 type: only one fuse) . For replace-
ment of faulty fuses, see paragraph 7.8. Re-
placing fuses
[22] Potential equalisation point
For use in areas where local regulations require
connection of a potential equalisation cable,
an earth (ground) cable and plug can be sup-
plied.
[23] Type number plate
This plate provides information for identifying
the equipment by type, version and serial
number (for service, warranty, etc.), together
with data such as mains voltage and current
consumption.

5.2. Introduction to operation
In the following sections, which are devoted to the
operation of the ELTRAC 471, particular attention is
paid to the control panel (Paragraph 5.1.) and the
parameter settings (Paragraph 5.3.). As the operat-
ing sequence is dependent on the therapy and ac-
cessories employed, only an example is given (Para-
graph 5.4.).
5.2.1. Parameters
The control panel of the ELTRAC 471 has push but-
tons for selecting the following parameters:
Parameter indication in intermittent traction
•
traction force [F1]
•
traction force hold time [t1]
•
base force [F2]
•
base force hold time [t2]
•
changeover speed [v]
•
treatment time
•
push button for forces exceeding 200 N push
button for starting and stopping treatment
5.2.2. Displays
Displays are provided for:
•
traction force or traction force hold time
•
base force or base force hold time
•
treatment time
•
changeover speed or traction phase.
Make sure the cord is guided over the pulley
as shown in the left drawing.
