Traction force and base force are indicated in kilo-
grams*). Hold times for traction force and base force
are indicated in seconds.
The treatment time is in minutes.
Before treatment, the changeover speed is indicated
on the bardisplay, while during treatment this dis-
play indicates the current traction force.

1 pound (lb) = 0.454 kgs.

Strictly speaking, the kilogram is a unit of mass, while
the unit of force is the Newton (N). However, as the
force in traction therapy is still generally expressed
in kilograms, the display of the ELTRAC 471 reads in
kilograms. To obtain the value in Newtons, simply
24
multiply the displayed figure by 10. For this reason,
the relevant push-buttons are also marked 'x 10 N'.

5.3. Sequence for setting parameters
The sequence for setting parameters is, in principle,
determined by the user. However, there are two main
possibilities:
•
All parameters are preset before treatment be-
gins. The set values can be adjusted during treat-
ment. See figure a.
•
Treatment is started first, and all parameters are
set later. See figure b.
