Storage and Transportation

Storage
Before storing the unit, confirm that the ducts and vents are secured or removed and cared for properly. Also confirm that the unit is drained of
condensation.
Transportation, Marking and Storage of Units
1. Transport of equipment containing flammable refrigerants must be conducted in compliance with all local transport regulations.
2. Marking of equipment using signs for the type of refrigerant must be in place and in compliance with local regulations.
3. The storage of equipment should be in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
4. Storage of packed (unsold) equipment. Protection should be provided in such that mechanical damage to the equipment inside the package
will not cause a leak of the refrigerant charge. The maximum number of pieces of equipment permitted to be stored together is determined
by local regulations and must not be exceeded.
5. The appliance should be stored properly to prevent mechanical damage from occurring.

Service and Service Precautions

Service
Your Tripp Lite product is covered by the warranty described in this manual. A variety of Extended Warranty and On-Site Service Programs are also
available from Tripp Lite. For more information on service, visit tripplite.com/support. Before returning your product for service, follow these steps:
1. Review the installation and operation procedures in this manual to insure that the service problem does not originate from a misreading of the
instructions.
2. If the problem continues, do not contact or return the product to the dealer. Instead, visit tripplite.com/support.
3. If the problem requires service, visit tripplite.com/support and click the Product Returns link. From here, you can request a Returned Material
Authorization (RMA) number, which is required for service. This simple online form will ask for your unit's model and serial numbers, along with
other general purchaser information. The RMA number, along with shipping instructions will be emailed to you. Any damages (direct, indirect,
special or consequential) to the product incurred during shipment to Tripp Lite or an authorized Tripp Lite service center are not covered under
warranty. Products shipped to Tripp Lite or an authorized Tripp Lite service center must have transportation charges prepaid. Mark the RMA
number on the outside of the package. If the product is within its warranty period, enclose a copy of your sales receipt. Return the product for
service using an insured carrier to the address given to you when you request the RMA.
Service Precautions
General work area precaution: All maintenance staff and others working in the local area should be instructed on the nature of work being carried
out. Work in confined spaces should be avoided. The area around the workspace should be sectioned off. Ensure that the conditions within the
area have been made safe by control of flammable material. Proper ventilation must be provided. Prior to starting any service:
1. Check the Area
Prior to beginning work on systems containing flammable refrigerants, safety checks are necessary to ensure that the risk of ignition is minimized.
For repair to the refrigerating system, the following precautions should be complied with prior to conducting work on the system.
Work should be undertaken under a controlled procedure to minimize the risk of a flammable gas or vapor being present while the work is being
performed.
• Checking for presence of refrigerant: The area should be checked with an appropriate refrigerant detector prior to and during work, to ensure
the technician is aware of potentially flammable atmospheres. Ensure that the leak detection equipment being used is suitable for use with
flammable refrigerants, i.e., non-sparking, adequately sealed or intrinsically safe.
• Presence of fire extinguisher: If any hot work is to be conducted on the refrigeration equipment or any associated parts, appropriate fire
extinguishing equipment should be available to hand. Have a dry powder or CO2 fire extinguisher adjacent to the charging area.
• No ignition sources: No person carrying out work in relation to a refrigeration system which involves exposing any pipe work that contains or
has contained flammable refrigerant should use any sources of ignition in such a manner that it may lead to the risk of fire or explosion. All
possible ignition sources, including cigarette smoking, should be kept sufficiently far away from the site of installation, repairing, removing and
disposal, during which flammable refrigerant can possibly be released to the surrounding space. Prior to work taking place, the area around the
equipment is to be surveyed to make sure that there are no flammable hazards or ignition risks. "No Smoking" signs should be displayed.
• Ventilated area: Ensure that the area is in the open or that it is adequately ventilated before breaking into the system or conducting any hot
work. A degree of ventilation should continue during the period that the work is carried out. The ventilation should safely disperse any released
refrigerant and preferably expel it externally into the atmosphere.
• Checks to the refrigeration equipment: Where electrical components are being changed, they should be fit for the purpose and to the correct
specification. At all times, the manufacturer's maintenance and service guidelines should be followed. If in doubt, consult the manufacturer's
technical department for assistance.
The following checks should be applied to installations using flammable refrigerants:
• The charge size is in accordance with the room size within which the refrigerant containing parts are installed.
• The ventilation machinery and outlets are operating adequately and are not obstructed.
• If an indirect refrigerating circuit is being used, the secondary circuit should be checked for the presence of refrigerant.
