3.3. Operating the appliance

Before operating this appliance, the workpieces to be powder coated in the
fluidising fluidising electrodeposition process and all electrically conductive parts
within the 5 m radius from the appliance shall be bonded to earth.
The maximum required bonding resistance to earth shall be 1 MΩ. Closely verify
this resistance value. Incorrect resistance may result in operating malfunctions and
this poor coating results. Have a resistance test tool ready at the worksite.
Before starting the EPC process, test it on another workpiece (like a piece of
scrap), adjusting the operating pressure.
CAUTION! Hold the EPC gun approximately 20-25 cm away from the
workpiece surface!
1. Once the assembly process is completed as specified in Section 3.2 and verified
to be correct, release the bin (15/16) and fill it with the powder coating (not
included); carefully fix the poweder entraining tube inside the bin so that it is
not clogged. Secure the bin cover in place.
2. Install the suitable dispersing nozzle on the conductor pole of the EPC gun.
3. Attach the equipotential bonding cable clamp (23) to the metal workpiece to
be coated.
4. Plug the power cord (24) of the appliance into a mains outlet.
5. Run the air compressor and set the pressure regulating valve to or less than 10
bar.
6. Switch on the appliance power with the power switch (P) on the control panel.
7. Select the operating mode by repeatedly pressing the coated substrate mode
selector (F). The arrow icon is displayed above the selected operating mode.
8. Select the operating program (P00-P20) compatible with the coating mode. Do
this by operating the program selector (O).
CAUTION! The system parameters of the control unit have been factory-
configured to ensure optimum performance of this appliance. The control
unit always defaults to the last settings entered.
The factory settings are user modifiable.
9. Start powder coating deposition by pressing the EPC gun trigger. Hold the EPC
gun only by its grip, which is bonded to earth. Touching the EPC gun body will
result in discharging of the powder particles and poor performance. You can
select the appliance parameters, like the dispensed powder rate or the
operating program, with the controls on the EPC gun.
10. The key (P) on the EPC gun control panel selects the operating program, and
the Up/Down keys increase/reduce the powder rate supplied to coat the
workpiece with.
