13. Adjust the length of the headband (F) so the headset rests comfortably on your head. The T-bar support (E)
should be placed just above your free ear.

the base unit (GN 9000 Digital), depending on the environment in your offi ce building. If you move out of
transmission range, the GN 9000 lets you know by means of a beep every 10 seconds in your headset (see
Technical Data).
20. To end the call, put down handset (or if available on your telephone press the line button).
Functions on the headset
Adjusting the volume
21. To increase or reduce volume in your headset, press successively on the upper (+) or lower (-) part of the oval
volume control (VII) on the headset. When the volume reaches maximum or minimum, you will hear a beep in
your headset (see Technical Data).
Muting the microphone
22. To talk without your caller hearing you, press the multifunction button (VI) on the headset. You are still able to
hear your caller. When the microphone is muted, you will hear a beep every 15 seconds in your headset (see
Technical Data).
Powersave
23. To save battery, the GN 9000 automatically turns off when out of range for more than 5 minutes. The GN 9000
- Bluetooth™ headset can be turned on by pressing simultaneously on the upper and lower part of the volume
button. The on-line indicator on the headset will start fl ashing. The GN 9000 Digital headset can be turned on
by pressing the multifunction button until the link is re-established, or by pressing the headset/handset switch
on the base unit.
Charging the battery
24. When the GN 9000 - Bluetooth™ headset is not in use, place the headset in the base unit. Ensure that the on-
line indicator is switched off. If the on-line indicator is still on, remove the headset from the base unit and place
it in the base again. When placed correctly in the base unit, the battery charging indicator (V) automatically
lights up and the headset is charged. This ensures optimum battery lifetime. When fully charged, the battery
charging indicator will fl ash. It takes 1½ hours to fully charge the battery of a GN 9000 - Bluetooth™ headset,
and 3 hours to fully charge the battery of a GN 9000 Digital. A fully charged battery provides up to1½ hours
of talk time for a GN 9000 - Bluetooth™ headset and up to 5 hours of talk time for a GN 9000 Digital. If battery
power gets too low, a beep will be heard in the headset every 20 seconds (see Technical Data).

Check that the headset/handset button on top of the base unit is in headset position and that the on-line

Check that the battery is fully charged. If the battery is fully charged, the battery charging indicator on the base
unit will fl ash when the headset is placed correctly in the base unit.
Check that the serial numbers at the bottom of the base unit and on the headset match. The numbers must
match for operation.
If you hear beeps in your headset:
A beep every 3 seconds (GN 9000 Bluetooth™) / 15 seconds (GN 9000 Digital) means that the mute function is on.
A beep every 10 seconds means that you are out of range, move closer to the base unit.
A beep every 20 seconds means that the battery is getting low and needs to be charged:
For proper charge, make sure that the battery charging indicator is lit when the headset is placed in the
base unit. If fully charged, the battery charging indicator on the base unit will fl ash.
The battery may need up to three charge- and discharge cycles to reach full capacity.
If the person you are talking to has problems hearing you:
Check that the mute function is off (see Step 22)
Re-adjust the microphone volume as described in Step 9-11.
Check the position of the boom arm and make sure that the microphone is placed at the corner of your mouth.
You may be out of range, move closer to the base unit.
Noise may be caused, if the base unit is placed too close to your telephone.
