Important

• Make sure that the voltage indicated on the appliance corresponds to the mains voltage in your
home before you connect the appliance.
• Read these instructions carefully and look at the illustrations before you start using the
appliance.
• The appliance is doubly insulated and does not need to be connected to an earthed wall socket.
If you wish to use an extension cord, a 2-wire type is suitable. However, make sure that the
plugs and the cord are suitable for high voltages (16A-220V / 13A-240V AC).
If you use an extension cord on a reel, be sure to unwind the cord completely to prevent it from
overheating.
• Especially if the heater is running in setting 2 and another electrical device is switched on at
the same time, it is possible that the fuse or circuit breaker to which the appliances are
connected cuts off the power supply. In this case, the current in the fuse or circuit breaker has
become excessive. If this happens, connect one of the appliances to a different circuit
(connected to a different fuse or circuit breaker) or have your electrical installation revised by
an authorised electrician.
• The heater is not designed for use as the main source of heating. Use the appliance only for its
intended purpose, i.e. to provide additional heating in a house.
• For your own safety and that of others, be aware that water and electricity are a dangerous
combination! When you use the heater standing on the floor, do not place it in the immediate
surroundings of a bath, shower or swimming pool.
• Do not use the heater in rooms that contain explosive gases (e.g. petrol) or while you are using
inflammable glues or solvents (e.g. when you are glueing or varnishing parquet floors, PVC
etc.).
• Do not insert any objects into the heater.
• Make sure that children cannot play with the appliance.
• Only use the fan heater when it is standing or hanging in upright position (see fig. 1).
• Attention: the grille gets hot (+85 °C / +185 °F) when the heater is switched on!
• Keep the mains cord at a safe distance from the air inlet and outlet openings.
• Prevent overheating of the appliance by keeping the air inlet and outlet openings unblocked: do
not hang anything in front or above the heater. Check the openings from time to time to make
sure that they are not blocked by accumulated dust. If overheating should occur, the built-in
safety cut-out will switch the appliance off.
• Allow ample space around the heater. A safe area to be left free is 50 cm/20" above the heater
and at the sides, and 120 cm/47" in front of the heater.
• Make sure there are no aerosols, inflammable substances or materials that are sensitive to heat
in the flow of hot air.
• Do not use the heater on extremely deep-pile carpets.
• If the mains cord of this appliance is damaged, it must only be replaced by Philips or their
service representative, as special tools and/or parts are required.
