PRIMING THE PUMP
See Figure 8.
NOTICE:
Never start the engine if the pump is dry or if there isn't
enough water in the unit to prime the pump.
 Place water pump on a flat, level surface.
 Remove the priming port cap by turning counter-
clockwise.
 Add water until pump chamber is full.
 Replace priming port cap and tighten securely.
STARTING AND STOPPING THE WATER
PUMP
See Figures 9 - 10.
NOTICE:
Do not run the water pump without filtered suction hose
(not included) attached and connected to water source,
as this may damage the pump. Make sure the hose is not
being restricted by tires, rocks, or any other objects that
may lessen or prevent water flow to the pump.
Before starting the engine:
 Connect all hoses.
 Check all fluids (lubricant and gas).
 Ensure pump is primed.
To start the engine:
 Move the throttle lever all the way to the right (low speed).
 Move the choke left to the START position.
 Move the fuel lever right to the OPEN position.
 Put the engine switch in the ON position.
 Grasp the starter grip and rope and pull slowly until
resistance is felt. Give the starter grip and rope a short,
brisk pull to start the engine.
OPERATION
NOTE: Do not allow the starter grip and rope to snap
back after starting; return it gently to its original place.
 Let engine run for several seconds, then move choke
right to the RUN position and adjust the throttle lever for
desired speed. See Adjusting Pump Speed.
To stop the engine:
 Move the throttle lever all the way to the right (low speed).
 Put the engine switch in the OFF position.
 Move the fuel lever left to the CLOSED position.
WARNING:
While operating and storing, keep at least 3 feet of
clearance on all sides of this product, including overhead.
Allow a minimum of 30 minutes of "cool down" time
before storage. Heat created by muffler and exhaust
gases could be hot enough to cause serious burns and/
or ignite combustible objects.
ADJUSTING PUMP SPEED
See Figure 9.
The throttle lever is used to adjust the cycle speed of the
pump. Constantly operating the pump at extreme speeds (high
or low) can cause damage to the tool's internal components.
 Turn the water pump on.
 Let the engine run for several seconds.
 To increase the speed of the pump, move the throttle
lever to the left.
 To decrease the speed of the pump, move the throttle
lever to the right.
HIGH ALTITUDE OPERATION
Specific modifications are needed for high-altitude operation
for equipment operating in altitudes greater than 3000 feet
above sea level. Please contact your authorized service center
for important information regarding these modifications.
Operating this engine without the proper altitude modification
may increase the engine's emissions and decrease fuel
economy and performance.
