6.1. CLEANING

■ Empty the drip tray regularly during use.
■ Clean the appliance and accessories after each use.
■ Clean the drip tray, grid, portafilter and filter in warm soapy water with a soft
sponge. Dry thoroughly before reassembling to the appliance.
■ Clean the water tank regularly to maintain the water fresh. The water tank is
removable for cleaning. Clean with warm soapy water and a soft sponge. Rinse
well and dry.
■ Wipe the external surfaces of the appliance with a soft cloth moistened with water
or soapy water. Dry thoroughly.
6.2. DESCALING
Descale the espresso machine every 2 to 3 months to ensure it works efficiently.
Descaling procedure
1. Use a commercially available descaler for espresso machines and follow the
instructions on the package.
2. Fill the recommended amount of descaler in the water tank and fill the rest of the
tank with tap water up to the MAX mark.
3. Place a sufficiently large container under the group head.
4. Press the On/Off button to turn the espresso machine on.
5. When the Coffee button stops blinking, press the button to dispense one cup
of hot descaling water. Repeat this step to dispense a second cup of descaling
water.
6. Press the Steam button and wait until the button stops blinking.
7. Insert a frothing jug half-filled with tap water in the steam wand, then turn the
Steam Control knob anti-clockwise to produce 2 minutes of steam.
8. Turn the Steam Control knob to the Off position, and press the On/Off button to
turn the machine off.
9. Let the descaling solution sit in the espresso machine for 15 minutes.
10. Press the On/Off button to turn the machine on.
11. Repeat steps 5 to 7 until the descaling solution in the water tank is empty.
Tap water rinsing procedure
12. Remove the water tank from the machine. Wash the water tank thoroughly with
warm soapy water using a soft sponge, and rinse well.
13. Fill the water tank with tap water up to the MAX mark, and reattach it to the
machine.
14. Press the On/Off button to turn the machine on.
15. Repeat steps 5 to 7 until the tap water in the water tank is empty.
16. The espresso machine is ready for use.
