11 Cleaning and maintaining the
studio flash unit
11.1 Checking cables and connectors
Check the studio flash unit's connecting
cables and connectors for damage each time
before you put it into use.
DANGER OF FIRE AND ELECTRIC SHOCK!
Damaged connecting cables and connectors
must be repaired or replaced by an
electrician.
11.2 Cleaning the studio flash unit
Observe the following safety instructions
before and during cleaning because of a
DANGER OF ELECTRIC SHOCK AND
BURNS:
- First, discharge the capacitor of the studio
flash unit; to do so:
- Move the power switch
of the studio
flash unit to (ON).
- Press the button
to discharge the
capacitor by triggering the flash; then
immediately move the power switch
the studio flash unit to (OFF).
The power switch must be pressed within
half a second; otherwise, the capacitor
undergoes recharging.
- Remove the power plug from the outlet.

- Let the studio flash unit cool for 30 minutes.
- Avoid skin contact with the flash tube or
bulb of the modelling lamp.
- Never use water or damp cleaning agents
for cleaning.
Housing and reflector:
Remove dirt with a microfibre cloth only.
Flash tube and the bulb of the modelling
lamp:
Only remove dust with a dust brush or a
dry, soft cloth.
