10.4 Parfocality adjustment
The parfocality must be adjusted by means of the focusable
"C" mount adapter connected to the camera in order to
achieve maximum performance.
1. Insert the lower magnification objective into the optical path.
If the lower magnification objective is a 2x or 4x, the
front lens of the condenser must be removed from the
optical path.
2. While observing the image on the monitor, focus using the
microscope's focus knobs.
3. Insert the higher magnification dry objective.
4. While observing the image on the monitor, focus using the
microscope's focus knobs.
5. Insert the lower magnification objective again.
6. If the image is not perfectly in focus, turn the knurled ring
on the "C" mount (Fig. 16), until the image is perfectly in
focus.
Doing this operation DO NOT turn the microscope's
focus knobs.
7. The parfocality adjustment is completed.
10.5 Centering the condenser
1. Place the specimen on the stage, insert 10x objective into the
light path and focus.
2. Insert the front lens of the swing-out condenser ①. (Fig. 17)
3. Move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the video window,
the Camera Control Toolbar will pop up automatically. (Fig.
18)
4. From here, select the "Grid" command ⑤.
5. The "Grids" dialog box appears (Fig. 19). In the dialogue box
select the value "1" in the "Row" field and the value "1" in the
"Column" field.
6. A crosshair appears in the centre of the monitor. (Fig. 20)
7. Rotate the field diaphragm ring ② in counterclockwise
direction, to fully close the diaphragm. (Fig. 17)
8. A bright spot appears in the screen. (Fig. 21)
9. Rotate the condenser height adjustment knob ③ (Fig. 17) to
focus the edges of the diaphragm.
10. Rotate the two centering screws ④ (Fig. 17) to bring the
bright spot in the center of the screen. (Fig. 22)
11. Gradually open the diaphragm until it is outside the screen.
12. At the end hide the crosshair by deselecting the check box
"Visible" in the "Grids" dialog box.
