BEFORE USE
This tool is not intended for use by children and
persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge
Ensure that children do not play with the tool
Do not leave the tool unattended
Only use the tool in daylight or with appropriate artificial
lighting
Do not trim hedges when they are wet
Never use the tool with a defective blade cover
Check the functioning of the tool before each use and,
in case of a defect, have it repaired immediately by a
qualified person; never open the tool yourself
Before use, thoroughly inspect the cutting area and
remove all foreign objects that could be entangled in the
cutting blades (such as stones, nails, wire fences, metal
plant supports)
Some regions have regulations that restrict the use of the
product. Check with your local authority for advice.
DURING USE
Wear protective gloves, a dust mask, close-fitting clothes
and sturdy shoes
Do not operate the tool when barefoot or wearing open
sandals
Always wear long trousers and long sleeves when
operating the tool
Keep other persons and animals at a distance of 15
metres when using the tool
In case of electrical or mechanical malfunction,
immediately switch off the tool and remove battery
Take a secure stance at ground level surface when
working and not on ladders or any other unstable
support.
AFTER USE
Store the tool indoors in a dry and locked-up place, out of
reach of children
- store the battery pack separately from the tool
BATTERIES
The battery supplied is partially charged (to ensure
full capacity of the battery, completely charge the battery
in the battery charger before using your power tool for the
first time)
Only use the following batteries and chargers with
this tool
- SKIL battery: BR1*31****
- SKIL charger: CR1*31****
Do not use the battery when damaged; it should be
replaced
Do not disassemble the battery
Do not expose tool/battery to rain
Permitted ambient temperature (tool/charger/battery):
- when charging 4...40°C
- during operation –20...+50°C
- during storage –20...+50°C

USE
Assembly instructions
! remove battery from tool
Attaching the poles e
- Fit the front pole G together with one end of the
extension pole L, tighten them together with the
threaded sleeve H by rotating it.Make sure that both
parts are properly fitted
- Repeat this process to attach the other end of the
extension pole L to the rear pole R
Attaching the shoulder strap r
- Attach the shoulder-strap hooks onto the shoulder-
strap loops located in the handling areas

- press the battery level indicator button T to show the
current battery level ta
! when the lowest level of the battery indicator
starts flashing after pressing button V tb, the
battery is empty
! when 2 levels of the battery indicator start flashing
after pressing button V tc, the battery is not
within the allowable operating temperature range
Battery protection
The tool is suddenly being switched off or prevented from
being switched on, when
- the load is too high --> remove load and restart
- the battery temperature is not within the allowable
operating temperature range of -20 to +50°C --> 2
levels of the battery level indicator start flashing when
pressing button V tc; wait until battery has returned
within the allowable operating temperature range
- the battery is nearly empty (to protect against
deep discharge) --> a low battery level or flashing low
battery level tb is shown by the battery level indicator
when pressing button V; charge battery
! do not continue to press the on/off switch after the
tool is switched off automatically; battery may be
damaged
Adjusting the pivoting head y
- Press the two pivoting-head release buttons F
simultaneously
- Turn the pivoting head D to the desired position by
moving the pivoting head D up or down
- Release the pivoting-head release buttons F and make
sure that the pivoting head D is properly locked.
Pivoting head D can be positioned at one of the 8
different angles.

- switch on tool by first pressing safety switch S and then
pulling trigger switch T
- switch off the tool by releasing trigger switch T

- firmly grasp the front handle with one hand and the rear
handle with the other hand, and take a secure stance
- guide the tool ahead of you
