SOLUTION
Check that the wood is not excessively damp and the embers unburnt.
- Ensure that a fire is started with an open, gradual but steady flame to avoid
incomplete combustion.
- If used indoors, check that the chimney is not clogged or with a constricted pipe
(angle greater than 45°) and that the air intakes in the room are functioning.
It is advisable to open the door.
- Make sure that the fire is positioned on the left side of the oven, not near the
mouth.
- Heat for 20 minutes with a high flame.
- Add wood to the fire gradually.
- Check that no moisture or water has entered the oven
- This could be first-time start-up or start-up after long inactivity.
- Avoid making a sudden fire, which would not heat
the oven fully.
- Do not over-fire and dampen any flame that escapes by placing the door over
the mouth of the oven and leaving a 2 to 3 cm gap.
- Check that the oven has reached the appropriate temperature.
- Maintain the chosen temperature throughout the cooking process; use the door,
ash pan and valve as flame regulators:
- Adjust door, ash pan, or chimney butterfly valve to regulate oven temperature.
