The gas safety valve (referred to as "GSV") is
designed to protect the hydraulic accumulator
in the event that the permitted gas pressure is
exceeded. It consists of a housing which
contains a compression spring for setting the
cracking pressure.
The temperature fuse (referred to as "GMP")
is used to protect the hydraulic accumulator
from excessive temperatures. It consists of a
housing containing a support ring which melts
in the event of a fire, to release the gas.

Service life
In the safety devices, the seal ring 12 [III-1]
is considered to be the component which
limits service life due to ageing.
Like all safety valves, the GSV has a finite
service life. Amongst other things, this is
dependent on the number of operations,
where the seal is subject to varying stress.
The GMP releases/opens once only in the
event of elevated temperature and then
needs to be replaced.

Intended use
● Intended use of the safety device exclu-
sively includes fluid-side protection from
excess pressure and shutting off and
discharging the hydraulic accumulator.
● The regulations relating to safety devices
applicable in the country of installation
must be observed prior to commissioning
and during operation.
Obligations of the owner
● The owner is responsible for the safety
devices being used as intended and for
these regulations being complied with.
● The documentation supplied with the
safety devices must be kept in a safe
place for the installation inspection and
any periodic inspections.
