Basic guidelines
622376843-5
● Safety devices must not be disabled by
shut-off devices.
● Change-over ball valves or blocking
devices can be installed, provided that the
design of the device guarantees that the
required bleed point cross-section is
available even during change-over.
● On systems which are equipped with
several independent safety devices, whilst
the safety devices are being tested, the
system may only be operated at a corre-
spondingly reduced system capacity.
None of the safety devices may be
blocked off.
● The operating data is permanently marked
on the safety equipment. The marking
must be kept in a legible condition.
Cross sections
EN
The cross-section of the pipe on the feed-line
side must not be smaller than the cross-
section of the safety equipment inlet (10 mm).
GSV:
The pressure drop in the pipe on the feed-line
side must not exceed 3% of the pressure
differential between the response pressure
and the back pressure for the max. mass flow
rate.
Back pressures on the outlet side which
affect the cracking overpressure and the
cracking forces or the mass flow rate must be
taken into account.
Operating gas
● Operating gas: Nitrogen
● Specification: at least class 2.8
Deviations from these specifications must
be agreed with HYDAC.
5.1 Operating data
672022283-5
Operating temperature: The permitted oper-
ating temperature range is indicated on the
stamped marking / in the documentation.
Operating pressure: The permitted operating
pressure is indicated on the stamped
marking / in the documentation.
Setting pressure: The setting pressure of the
GSV is indicated on the stamped marking / in
the documentation.
Mass flow rate: Diagram on Mass flow rate ṁ
as a function of the pressure setting p (GSV)
[I-1]
The operating range of the GSV is shown by
the area marked X.
ṁ = mass flow rate [kg/h]
p = pressure setting [bar]
Fuse temperature: Diagram on Fuse temper-
ature as a factor of pressure p (GMP) [I-2]
t
= fuse temperature [°C]
p = pre-charge pressure [bar]
5.2 Installation
622503947-5
Installation position
● The installation position is optional, taking
into account the direction of flow.
● Ensure that the bleed points 3 [III-1] are
clear so that the nitrogen can escape
freely.
● The bleed points 3 [III-1] must be posi-
tioned so that in the event that the safety
device is deployed, the escaping gas
cannot cause injury to persons.
Installation location
● Safety equipment should be mounted as
near as possible to the hydraulic accumu-
lator in order to minimize the pressure
drop to the valve as much as possible.
Furthermore, the connecting line to the
safety devices should be as short and
straight as possible.
● Safety device discharge ports should not
be located opposite other valve ports.
● Feed lines to safety devices must be laid
in the direction of flow.
● Safety equipment must be protected from
damaging external influences, e.g.
weather or dust, which could impair its
function.
● The transfer of vibrations to the safety
equipment must be prevented.
● Safety equipment must be accessible for
function testing and for maintenance.
