3 Use
3.1 Prerequisites

Air purifying respirators are not to be used if there is any
confusion about their intended use or the conditions in which
they are to be used. Observe the following notes when using the
air purifying respirator.
Non-observance can result in severe injuries or even death.
Follow exactly the valid national regulations relating to the use of air

purifying respirators (in Germany, e.g. BGR 190, in Australia and
New Zealand, e.g. AS/NZS 1715:2009, in the U.S., e.g. 29 CFR,
Part 1910.134).
The ambient conditions (in particular type and concentration of the

contaminants) must be known. Use corresponding respiratory
filters. If the contaminant is unknown, use only self-contained
(open-circuit) breathing apparatus or air line breathing apparatus.
Air purifying respirators may only be used if the air does not

present an immediate danger to life or health of the user.
It must be ensured that the surrounding atmosphere cannot

change unfavorably.
Do not enter unventilated areas such as containers, shafts or

ducts, when wearing this air purifying respirator.
Do not use in oxygen-enriched atmospheres.

For use in explosion-hazard areas, treat the half mask with anti-

static spray or use a water screen.
