Product Specific Instructions
Installation
General Installation Safety
Each hose reel is tested for quality and function before leav-
ing the factory. The wind-up spring inside the reel is equipped
with a safety plate to protect it from falling out. Any removal
or modification of safety devices as well as misuse or operat-
ing outside of the allowed range of application or operating
data, can be hazardous for the operator, the hose reel, and the
connected tools/accessories.
• Do not install the equipment without an easily accessible
shut off valve upstream the connection.
• Check that the intake and distribution hose are in good
condition and fitted correctly.
• The manufacturer declines any responsibility for injures
or damages caused by an incorrectly performed installa-
tion.
Operation
General Operation Safety
• There are rotating parts in the hose reel. Do not stick in
any finger or other things in the rotating parts!
• Ensure that all connected equipment are in "Off-position"
before turning on the supply.
• When the hose is pulled out in its full length stop pulling
on it. The hose could be damaged if you pull with too
much force at this point. Pull the hose out until you reach
the length you need, then let it roll up slowly to lock it in
position. If it does not lock, pull it out a little further and
try again until it locks in the desired position.
• If you let go of the hose end while retracting it, the hose
will fly rapidly and out of control resulting in personal in-
jury or damage to nearby people or objects. NEVER let
the hose go while retracting it. Always guide the hose end
to the reel until it stops.
• Open the valve gradually and ensure that any particles are
ejected safely.
Service and Maintenance
General Service and Maintenance Safety

of the product and its accessories must be agreed upon by
the technical authority of the manufacturer.

• Pressurized parts can come apart suddenly during repairs,
improper handling or improper usage and cause severe
injury or kill you. Always disconnect the hose reel from
air/water/oil/grease source before doing any maintenance
or repair work.
General safety instructions

tools:
• CAGI 2528 - B186.1, SAFETY CODE FOR POR-
TABLE AIR TOOLS, available from Global Engi-
neering Documents at https://global.ihs.com/ or call

Installation hazards
• Make sure the hose reel attachment and supports have a
minimum safety factor of five times the weight of the
hose reel.
• Whipping hoses can cause severe injury. A shut-off valve
must be sited immediately upstream of the hose reel and
be easily accessible.
• Blow out hose before connecting. Ensure that the open
end is held securely and not pointing at anyone. Open the
valve gradually and ensure that any ejected particles do
not cause a hazard.
• Turn off all connected equipment before turning on the
supply.
Operating Hazards
• Air under pressure can cause severe injury. Never direct
air at yourself or anyone else.
• Release pressure before disconnecting the hose.
• Daily check for damaged or loose hoses and fittings and
rectify immediately. Damaged hoses or fittings must be
replaced.
• Protect the hose from contact with sharp edges, flames,
hot parts and solvents.
• Do not exceed maximum working pressure as stated on
hose reel nameplate.
• Never let go of the hose end when retracting the hose. An
uncontrolled flying hose end can cause injury. Always
guide the hose end until it stops.
• The hose reel contains rotating parts. Keep fingers away
to avoid crushing.
• To avoid pinching, never put your hand on the hose close
to the hose outlet.
• Shut off air supply, drain hose of air pressure and discon-
nect hose reel from air supply when not in use
• Operators must be physically able to manoeuvre the hose
reel.
• Hose reels are not intended for use in potentially explo-
sive atmospheres.
Maintenance and repair hazards
• Shut off supply, drain hose and disconnect hose reel from
supply before making any adjustments or repairs; also, re-
lease the spring tension to avoid pinching fingers.
