GENERAL OPERATIONAL PRECAUTIONS
1.
Keep w ork area clean. Cluttered areas and benches
invite accidents.
2.
Avoid dangerous environm ent. Don't expose pow er
tools and charger to rain. Don't use pow er tools
and charger in dam p or w et locations. And keep
w ork area w ell lit. Never use pow er tools and
charger near flam m able or explosive m aterials. Do
not use tool and charger in presence of flam m able
liquids or gases.
3.
Keep children aw ay. All visitors should be kept
safe distance from w ork area.
4.
Store idle tools and charger. When not in use,
tools and charger should be stored in dry, high
or locked-up place-out of reach of children. Store
tools and charger in a place w here the tem pera-
ture is less than 40°C.
5.
Don't force tool. It w ill do the job better and safer
at the rate for w hich it w as designed.
6.
Use right tool. Don't force sm all tool or attach-
m ent to do the job of a heavy duty tool.
7.
Wear proper apparel. Do not w ear clothing or
jew elry. They can be caught in m oving parts.
Rubber gloves and footw ear are recom m ended
w hen w orking outdoor.
8.
Use eye protection w ith m ost tools. Also use face
or dust m ask if cutting operation is dusty.
9.
Don't abuse cord. Never carry charger by cord or
yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord
from heat, oil and sharp edges.
10.
Secure w ork. Use clam ps or a vise to hold w ork.
It's safer than using your hand and it frees both
hands to operate tool.
11.
Don't overreach. Keep proper footing and balance
at all tim es.
12.
M aintain tools w ith care. Keep tools sharp at all
tim es, and clean for best and safest perform ance.
Follow instructions for lubricating and changing
accessories.
13.
When the charger is not in use, or w hen being
m aintained and inspected, disconnect its pow er
cord from the AC outlet.
14.
Rem ove chuck w renches and w renches. Form habit
of checking to see that w renches are rem oved
from tool before turning it on.
15.
Avoid accidental starting. Don't carry tool w ith
finger on sw itch.
16.
To avoid danger, alw ays use only the specified
charger.
17.
Use only original HITACHI replacem ent parts.
18.
Do not use pow er tools for applications other than
those specified in the Handling Instructions.
19.
To avoid personal injury, use only the accessories
or attachm ent recom m ended in these handling
instructions or in the HITACHI catalog.
20.
Let only the authorized service facility do the
repairing. The M anufacturer w ill not be respon-
sible for any dam ages or injuries caused by repair
by the unauthorized persons or by m ishandling
of the tool.
21.
To ensure the designed operational integrity of
pow er tools and charger, do not rem ove installed
covers or screw s.
22.
Alw ays use the charger at the voltage specified
on the nam eplate.
23.
Do not touch m ovable parts or accessories unless
the pow er source has been disconnected.
24.
Alw ays charge the battery before use.
25.
Never use a battery other than that specified. Do
not connect a usual dry cell, a rechargeable battery
other than that specified or a car battery to the
pow er tool.

Do not use any transform er that has a booster.

Do not charge the battery from an engine electric
generator or DC pow er supply.
28.
Alw ays charge indoors. Because the charger and
battery heat slightly during charging, charge the
battery in a place not exposed to direct sunlight;
w here the hum idity is low and the ventilation
good.

Before starting to w ork in a high place, pay at-
tention to the activities below to m ake sure there
are no people below .
30.
Use the exploded assem bly draw ing on this
handling instructions only for authorized servic-
ing.
PRECAUTIONS ON USING CORDLESS
AUTOM ATIC SCREWDRIVER
1.
This autom atic screw driver is designed for
tightening and loosenig screw s. Use it only for
these operation.
2.
Use the earplugs if using for a long tim e.
3.
One-hand operation is extrem ely dangerous; hold
the unit firm ly w ith both hands w hen operating.
4.
Use original bits specifically for the autom atic
screw driver.
Use no bits other than the original bits specifically
for the autom atic screw driver. Use of any other
bit can result in screw s sticking out and screw
feed m alfunctioning.
5.
After installing the driver bit, pull lightly out the
bit to m ake sure that it does not com e loose. If
the bit is not installed properly, it can com e loose
during use, w hich can be dangerous.
6.
Screw in screw s w ith the m ain unit held straight.
If the driver is slanted relative to the screw , the
screw head can be dam aged and the bit w orn.
M oreover, the prescribed torque is not transm itted
to the screw , resulting in screw s left sticking out.
Place the drive straight against the screw and
screw in.
7.
Use the prescribed screw s.
Do not use any other screw s. They can cause
abnorm al w ork (screw s fallen over or sticking out)
and break dow ns (screw jam m ing and bit w ear).
8.
Protect your eyes w ith protective glasses.
Alw ays w ear protective glasses w hile w orking.
Drilling scatters plaster pow der and tape dust,
w hich are dangerous if they get into your eyes
9.
Watch out for w ires and pipes in w alls and ceilings.
When w orking on floors, w alls, or ceilings, check
for w ires and pipes ahead of tim e. Work carefully
to avoid shocks and explosions.
10.
When the screw feed attachm ent is rem oved,
alw ays use the correct driver bit for the screw size.
11.
When the screw feed attachm ent is rem oved, if
the screw driver is positioned at an angle against
the tightening screw , the head of the screw m ay
be dam aged or the fixed tightening force w ill not
t r an sf er t o t h e scr ew . A l w ay s p o si t i o n t h e
tightening screw and the screw driver at a straight
angle and then tighten the screw .
12.
Alw ays charge the battery at a tem perature of 5
~ 40°C.
A tem perature of less than 5°C w ill result in over
charging w hich is dangerous. The battery cannot
be charged at a tem perature greater than 40°C.
The m ost suitable tem perature for charging is that
of 20 ~ 25°C.
13.
Do not use the charger continuously.
When one charging is com pleted, leave the charger
for about 15 m inutes before the next charging of
battery.
14.
Do not allow foreign m atter to enter the hole for
connecting the rechargeable battery.
