2. Preparation
CAUTION: Risk of personal injury or product damage. Cast
iron sinks are very heavy. Get help lifting the sink.
CAUTION: Risk of product damage. Use care to avoid
damaging the cooking vessel components when you lift the sink
into place.
Install the rough water supply and drain piping according to the
roughing-in information.
Ensure that the desired sink location has adequate clearance to
the backsplash, faucet, sink, and cabinet.
Position the template on the countertop and trace it with a pencil.
Cut out the opening by carefully following the pencil line traced
from the template.
Install the faucet to the sink according to the faucet
manufacturer's instructions.
Measure and compare the thickness of the sink rim and the tile.
NOTE: The sink rim thickness is 3/8" (1 cm) plus or minus 1/32" (1
mm).
Because of the varying thickness of the tile and sink, or if you use
an adhesive or mortar bed, make allowances to shim the sink or
route the underlayment as needed.
