Draining
Draining
Drain the system if it will be subjected to temperatures below 32 °F (0 °C) or if maintenance is to be
performed.
1. Disconnect power from the system.
2. Open a tap in the water system to release the pressure.
3. Remove the drain and priming plugs from the pump casing.
4. Remove the pressure tank drain plug (if applicable).
5. Allow ample time for the system to drain before reinstalling the plugs.
Replacing Mechanical Seals
Risk of damage to pump or other property.
• Only qualified persons should perform maintenance on electrical or mechanical devices.
• Care must be taken not to damage the motor fan or cover.
• Do not use petroleum-based cleaners or lubricants.
• Care must be taken not to contaminate the seal faces.
Disassembly
1. Disconnect pump from the power source.
2. Open a tap in the water system to release
the pressure.
3. Remove the drain (9) and prime plugs to
allow the pump to drain.
4. Disconnect the tubing leading to the pressure
switch.
5. Remove the bolts (1) and casing (2).
6. Pry the diffuser (3) out of the casing, using
two slotted screwdrivers for leverage.
7. Remove the cap (4) and insert a screwdriver
to prevent the shaft from turning.
8. Unscrew the impeller (5).
• The impeller has a right-hand thread.
• If the impeller cannot be turned by hand,
insert a flat object into the impeller vane.
9. Slip the rotating seal (6) off the shaft.
10. Remove the seal plate (7).
11. Remove the ceramic seal seat (8) from the seal plate.
12. Inspect all parts and replace any that are worn or damaged.
