maker. If you use your coffee maker once or twice a day, the following guidelines for decalcifying should be
used:
- Soft water, every 6 months.
- Medium water, every 2-3 months.
- Hard water, every 6-8 weeks.
If the time it takes to brew a cup of coffee suddenly is increased it is recommend that the coffee maker is
decalcified. The harder the water in your area, the more often the coffee maker needs to be decalcified. The
hardness of the water can be advised at your local waterworks.
For decaling follow these steps:
1. Fill the water tank of the coffee maker with a composite mixture of 1 cup white vinegar with 2 cups hot
water. Place a filter to catch limescale or mineral loose during the cleaning process to prevent clogging
the mechanism of drip coffee.
2. Turn on the coffee maker and allow the mixture of vinegar and water "prepare". Collect the water in the
jar.
3. Filter a pitcher of clean water through the coffee maker. Repeat two or three times to rinse the remaining
vinegar. Use cold and tap water. You will notice that the machine is clean when it no longer smells like
vinegar during the preparation of coffee.
4. Clean the removable plastic parts of the appliance with soft detergent and water. Rinse them well and
return to put in the coffee maker.
Disposal of old electrical appliances.
The European directive 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), requires
that old household electrical appliances must not be disposed of in the normal unsorted municipal
waste stream. Old appliances must be collected separately in order to optimize the recovery and
recycling of the materials they contain, and reduce the impact on human health and the environment.
The crossed out "wheeled bin" symbol on the product reminds you of your obligation, that when you
dispose of the appliance, it must be separately collected.
Consumers should contact their local authority or retailer for information concerning the correct disposal of
their old appliance.
