DOLBY NR
-
Noise
reduction
The Dolby Noise
Reduction
System
causes
a
considerable
reduction of the
tape-caused noise
thus
increasing the
dynamic
range
of
recording.
When
playing
Dolbyised
cassette recordings
which
are marked
with
thesymbol
DO
or
Dolbyised home recordings
pressthebut
ton
marked
Dolby
NR. The
light
next
to
the
button
indicates
that
Dolby
has
been
turned
on.
Counte.r
with
memory feature
The
counter
is used
for
registering
and
rapidly finding
certain
positions
on
the tape.
lt
counts during
record and
playback
as
wel I
as
during
fast
forward and
reverse.
We recommend
setting
the
counter
to "000"
at the
beginning
of
a
tape
by
pressing
the
button
marked RESET.

position of the counter
at

beginning
of
each
piece
you
can
then at
a later
ti me
find all
recordings
on the
cassette
quite
quickly

Automatic
tape stop
The
equipment contains
a
electrical
tape monitoring
device
which initiatesthe auto
stop.
This unit
functions
independently
of
tape.foil
and cassette.
lf
operational
defects such
as
jammed
cassettes
occur,
the
unit
automatically
switches
off
the
drive.
A cassettewhich
often trips
the
feature
is
unusable.
Occasionally
a
cassette
can
be
wound
up
too
tightly.
lt
is
then
usually suf-
f
icient
to
completely rewind the
tape.
CASS/STOP
-
Removing
the
cassette
Tape
transport
is stopped
during
recording
and
playback by
presing
the button
CASS/STOP.
Pressing
it
a
second time
opens
the
cassette
holder and
the
cassette
can be
removed
by
pulling
it
out
the
top.
The
function
of the key PAUSF
remains
u
nchanged.

Setting record
levels
You
can make recordings
from
a)
AI

sources
connected
to
the amplifier
(tuner,
turntable).
The signal
is
automatically fed
to
the
jack
TAPE

A
low
or
medium
-
impedance
mono
microphone
having
an
impedance
of
200
-
1000
Ohms
and
a
1/4
inch coaxial
plug.
Connection
is
made
to
the
jack on the
front
panel
marked
MICRO.
Signal
is
automatical
ly
recorded on both
tracks.
Stereo microphone recording
can be made
using
the
5--pole
DIN jack
on
the
rear side.
The level
is
set
using
the
controls
RECORD
LEVEL.
The
con-
trol
marked
LEFT
is
assignedtotheleft
channel
andthecontrol
marked RIGHT
the
right
channel. The level
is
optimum
when
the
loudest
passages
ofthe
recording
cause
the
green
light
diodes
of
the PEAK LEVEL
INDICATOR
to
be
ail
tit
(0
dB
limit)"
Occasional
flickering
of
a
red
lightdiode
is,
however, notserious.
Starting the recording

you start
recording.
Erasing
During
recording
the recordingsalready
on
the
cassette
forthat
particular
tape
direction. Should you
desire
to
erase
something
-
without
si
multaneously
rerecording
-
play the
cassette once
through
as
if you were recording
but
by placing the
level
controls
RECORD
LEVEL
to "0".
All
compact
cassettes have
two
holes
on the
backside which
are closed
by
plastic
tabs.
You
can
protect
your
own
recordings
against
inadvertant
erasure
by
breaking
these tabs.
Should
you
desire
to
rerecord
the
tape then
you only
have
to
close
the
hole
with
a
small
piece
of
tape.
Please
note
that
the
additional
openings
for
CrO2 cassettes
must
not
be
covered.
Prerecorded tapes
are already protected
against
inadvertant
erasure in
this
man
ner.
Maintenance Notes
Occasional
cleaning and
demagnetization
of
the
heads
and
drive
elements
will
assure
quality
and long
life.
The
necessary
cleaning sets are available
at you.r
dealer. The
use
of
these
sets
should
be
taken
from
the
directions.
