lntroduction
You may already know how your new Geberit
UNIVERSAL
welding machine works. You may
have
a
habit of trying things out without first reading the ope-
rating instructions.
However,
we recommend that
you
read
the instructions thoroughly before you
use
the
machine for
the
first time
so
that you will
be
able to
work safely
and
efficiently with your new tool.
These
operating instructions contain
all
the information
you
need about the
UNIVERSAL
welding machine.
We
have
also included some important notes
to help
you
avoid hazards, reduce
repair
costs and downtime,
and
increase
the reliability and service
life
of the welding
machine.
Keep these operating instructions with the
UNIVERSAL
welding machine at
alltimes,
and
please
make sure that
everyone
who works with
the machine
reads and follows them. Besides
following the opera-
ting instructions
and
the local
accident prevention
regulations that apply
in
your country or
in
your
workshop, you should also follow standard codes of
practice concerning safety
and
correct working pro-
cedures.

Using the machine
for its
intended pur-
pose
The
UNIVERSAL
welding machine
is
for working
on
PE
piping
and
fittings with diameter 50
-
160
mm
only.
Using the
machine
for its intended purpose also inclu-
des following
the
operating instructions and safety
notes, and performing the specified maintenance
and
cleaning work.
lf
the
welding machine
is
used for
any
other purpose,
no
warranty or liability claims can
be
accepted
for
injury or damage.
The
user
alone
bears
the
risk!
Warranty and liability
It is
forlcidden
to
make any
structural modifications to
the Geberit
UNIVERSAL
welding
machine on your own
initiative, or
to
use
the
machine
for
any
purpose other
than
its
intended
purpose. Any such
activities will auto-
matically
render the warranty null and
void
and exclude
us
from
liability for any injury or damage.
Safety notes and warn¡ngs
The
UNIVERSAL
welding machine was engineered
and built according to the current state of the art,
and
inspected
in
compliance with the accident prevention
regulations
of VGB, TÜV and SUVA.
However, it
can
still endanger
life
and limb
if
operated incorrectly or
abused, or
if
you
are careless
or
negligent.
Please
therefore
make
quite
sure
to
read
and under-
stand the safety notes and warnings provided
in
these
operating instructions.
It's for
your
own safety's
sake!
General
notes
Þ
Set
the welding machine
up
on
a level and
firm
sudace.
>
Do not
use
the
welding
machine unless it
is
in per-
fect working
order. Use
it
for
its intended purpose
only, and be aware of safety aspects and potential
hazards.

Each
time you
use
the
machine,
first check
all parts
for
damage.

Replace
damage parts with original Geberit spares
only.
>
The
switch box for actuating the electric
plane -
diam. 315 mm, must be installed
in before
the wel-
ding machine

Use
the welding machine
in well
ventilated
rooms
only
>
Keep
the work place tidy and
clean.
>
Make sure children and unauthorised people
are
kept
well clear of the
working
area around the
machine.

Secure all parts of your
clothing that
are baggy
or
loose so they
cannot
get
caught
in
the machine.

Wear
sturdy footwear that provides
a
good
grip.

you
have
long
hair,
wear
a hair net.

Make
sure
there
are no
objects dangling from
above
in
the working
area.

while using the electric

not
touch the welding mirror during operation
or during the
cooling down
phase.
