16 TROUBLE SHOOTING
Disconnect the machine from the power supply prior to any checks performed at the
machine itself !
Trouble
Machine does not start
Drill speed is not
sufficient;
machine has low
power
After drilling, boring
head will not retract.
After drilling, the air
cylinder clamp(s) will
not rise
Boring head will not
advance
Smoke occurs while

Possible cause
• Not connected to power source
• Fuse blown, or circuit breaker
tipped
• Cord damaged
• Feed rate not adjusted properly
• Extension cord too light or too
long
• Low current
• Adjustable air relief valve
damaged
• Adjustable air relief valve
damaged
• Spring in the air cylinder clamp
is broken
• Air hose is cracked/broken
• Speed regulator valve too tight
• Air leaking form air cylinder
• Limit switch damged
• Foot pedal not operating
• Wood is wet
• Boring bits are dull
• Air pressure insufficient

TROUBLE SHOOTING
Solution
• Check plug connection.
• Replace fuse, or reset circuit
breaker
• Replace cord
• Adjust feed rate control
• Replace with adequate size
and length cord
• Contact a qualified electrician
• Replace air relief valve
• Replace air relief valve
• Replace clamp
• Replace air hose
• Loosen speed regulator valve
• Repair or replace air cylinder
• Replace limit switch
• Replace foot pedal switch
• Use dry stock
• Sharpen or replace boring
bits
• Properly set air pressure to
approximately 90 psi
or 6 – 8 bar
