ASSEMBLY
Slide the measuring stick (2) into the measuring stick holder (3) and turn the fastening screw on the hand
wheel to fix it. Slide an O-ring on both sides of the measuring stick, these ensure that the measuring stick
cannot fall out of the holder.
USE
1. Mount the rear wheel. Make sure that the rear wheel is exactly centered and that the rim runs exactly
in the middle of the rear part of the frame.
2. Dismantle the derailleur from the derailleur hanger and screw the mounting axle (5) into the
derailleur hanger.
3. Loosen the fastening screw on the hand wheel and move the measuring stick holder (3) with the
measuring stick (2) so that the tip of the measuring stick in position A touches the outer edge of the
rim. Hand-tighten the fastening screw on the hand wheel.
4. Move the measuring stick holder (3) so that the measuring stick (2) no longer touches the rim and
then turn the tool 180° to position C.
5. Push the measuring stick holder (3) with the measuring stick (2) to the edge of the rim. If the tip of
the measuring stick is up to 4 mm from the edge of the rim, the shifter is correctly aligned
horizontally. If the distance is more than 4 mm or the measuring stick (2) is pressing against the rim,
the derailleur hanger is bent. In this case, first slide the measuring stick holder (3) with the
measuring stick (2) away from the rim and then use the sliding lever (1) to align the derailleur hanger
horizontally. Repeat the measurement at positions A and C and bend with the sliding lever (1) until
the distance to the rim is less than 4 mm.
6. After horizontal leveling, leave the measuring stick (2) in position and turn the tool to position B. Turn
the wheel to position B if the distance between the tip of the measuring stick and the edge of the rim
is less than 4 mm. Correct the vertical alignment of the rear derailleur hanger with the slide lever (1)
if the distance is more than 4 mm in this position or if the tip of the measuring stick presses against
the edge of the rim. With a well-aligned derailleur hanger, the tip of the dipstick should touch the
edge of the rim in one position and never be more than 4mm from the rim in other positions. Repeat
measuring in all 4 positions and aligning with the slide lever (1) until you achieve this.
Note: Take the measurements on the valve so that the rim run-out does not affect the measurement
accuracy. Always measure on the outer edge of the rim to minimize errors due to the bevel of the rim
flange.
NOTES
The two O-rings (6) on the measuring stick (2) can be used as markers when using the tool on bikes with
pannier racks or other interfering accessories. After pushing the measuring stick (2) to the edge of the rim
and tightening the hand wheel, slide the outer O-ring (6) up to the measuring stick holder (3). The hand
wheel can now be loosened and the dipstick (2) pulled back to rotate the tool if this is necessary for the
luggage rack or other accessories. Then slide the measuring stick back towards the rim until the O-ring
touches the measuring stick holder and tighten the fixing screw on the handwheel.
