• The instructions regarding PPE apply for all
persons within the work area in addition to the
machine operator.
• The sanding of extremely hazardous materials
(e.g. paints with lead content and asbestos) is
highly toxic and should therefore be avoided or
only carried out by specialists wearing appropriate
PPE.
• Ensure that your workplace is clean and well-lit at
all times to prevent accidents.
• Do not use the machine outdoors.
• When taking the machine into confined spaces
(such as elevators), take care that the handle and
push bar are in a vertical position to keep them
away from walls and other obstructions.
• Always wear safety shoes when operating the
machine.
• Always wear protective clothing when scrubbing,
polishing or sanding floors.
• Do not use materials with this machine that are
flammable, poisonous or corrosive, or that pose a
health risk.
• To reduce the risk of fire, only use floor cleaning
agents and floor wax from reputable dealers.
• When using solvents and other cleaning agents,
pay attention to the manufacturer's warnings.
Always use safety goggles and clothing when
recommended to do so.
• When the machine is not in use, store it with
care. In particular, avoid leaving it unattended
where children can reach it.
• When storing the machine, remove the drive
board or floor brush in order to prevent damage
to the attachment fixtures.

4.4 Recoil
Recoil is a sudden reaction to a jammed, hooked
or blocked accessory, e.g. the abrasive or driving
disc. The rotation of the accessory is blocked
and comes to a sudden standstill. This causes
the machine to respond with increased speed
against the rotational direction of the accessory
at the location of the blockage. For example,
when a sanding disc hooks or jams on the
workpiece, the edge of the sanding disc, which
dips into the workpiece, may get caught and
break out the sanding disc, tear off or react in
a recoil. Depending on the rotational direction
of the sanding disc at the jamming point, it can
be ejected toward or away from the machine
operator. The sanding discs may also break at the
jamming point.
A recoil is the result of improper or incorrect use
of the machine, incorrect work practices and/or
unfavourable operating conditions. The following
safety measures minimise the risk of recoil:
• Hold the machine securely with both hands and
place your arms and body in such a way as to have
maximised control over recoil forces and reaction
momentum.
• Keep your hands away from rotating accessory
parts at all times, as they may recoil back across
your hand.
• Stay clear of the area of movement of the
machine in case of a recoil and prevent other
from entering that area, as the machine will be
accelerated against the rotational direction of
the abrasive at the jamming point when a recoil
occurs.
• Take extra care when working in corners and
along sharp edges, etc. Prevent the machine from
rebounding or jamming in these areas. The result
would be loss of control and recoil.

5.3 Commissioning
Caution! The mains plug must be disconnected
from the mains socket and must not be
plugged into the mains socket for all works
described in the following!
You must take the following measures before
operating the machine for the first time or
after the machine has been transported:
• Carefully unpack the machine and check the
contents of your appliance variant (A*).
• Attach the cover plate (D) to the drive assembly (B).
• Attach the push rod assembly (C) to the drive
