*Dutty cycle
Duty cycle is the percentage of time that the welding machine can deliver current to weld
continuously, in a period of 10 minutes. On the SKYARC 2850 MX the value is 50% when the output
current is maximum of its amperage and maximum ambient temperature is 40 ° C. This percentage
increases as the set output current decreases and / or the ambient temperature decreases.
Duty cycle may decrease if ambient temperature rises above 40 ° C.
This means that the machine is able to deliver its maximum output continuously for 7 minutes, and
after this period the thermal control device will be activated and the user must let the machine rest,
turned on, for 3 minutes. After this period, you will be able to resume work normally.

¡Attention!: Do not exceed the work cycles established on the data plate included in the welder and
in these instructions.
3.3. Over-heating
The letter "X" stands for the duty cycle, which is de ned as the proportion of the time that a machine
can work continuously within a certain time (10 minutes). The rated duty cycle means the proportion
of the time that a machine can work continuously within 10 minutes when it outputs the rated
welding current.
The relation between the duty cycle "X" and the output welding current "I" is shown as the right gure.
If transformer is over-heat, the heat relay inside it will open and will output an instruction to circuit
board, cut AC relay and the output welding current, and brighten the over-heat pilot lamp in the front
panel. At this time, the machine should be relaxed for 15 minutes to cool the fan. When operating the
machine again, the welding output current or the duty cycle should be reduced.
