5.3.3. STARTING AND STOPPING THE MACHINE
1. Loosen the bleed screw until
the air can enter and exit the oil
tank without problems. The flow
of air that out through the bleed screw hole should be
detectable during operation of the appliance. If you do
not loosen the bleed screw, the air inside the hydraulic
system cannot leave, thus compressing itself with
every cutting motion of the log splitter. This air
pressure can damage the hydraulic system's seals,
causing permanent damage to the machine.
2. Turn on the engine by pressing the green button.
Note: When the temperature is low, let the log splitter
run idle for approximately 15 minutes so that the oil
heats to the right temperature.
3. Put the log on the work table and hold it using
the claw (Fig 4.2.-12). To do this, lower the pressure
lever (Fig 4.2.-4) until the claw touches the trunk. The
grapple can be adjusted as shown in the figure to suit
different log heights.
4. While keeping the pressure lever (Fig 4.2.-4)
holding the log, move the cutting lever (Fig 4.2.-3)
down until it touches the log. Start cutting the log by
pressing the cutting lever halfway (slow speed and
greater force) and when the log has opened you can
switch to fast speed by pushing the lever fully to finish
dividing the log more quickly.
Note: This chipper is equipped with the "ZHB" control
system that requires both hands to be used. The left
hand controls the pressure lever (Fig 4.2.-4) while the
right hand controls the cutter lever (Fig 4.2.-3).
5. To return the blade to the initial position, press the
reverse lever (Fig 4.2.-5)
