14. Maintenance
m Attention!
Always shut the engine down and remove the spark
plug connector before carrying out any maintenance
work.
If the clutch levers do not work properly, proceed
as follows:
Adjusting the mowing unit clutch lever (Fig. 8+9)
• Turn the adjusting screw (b or c) of the Bowden ca-
ble in the "R" or "L" direction to increase or decrease
the distance.
Adjusting the wheel clutch lever (Fig. 10+11)
• Turn the adjusting screw (d or e) of the Bowden ca-
ble in the direction of "R" or "L" to increase or de-
crease the distance.
Cleaning the air filter (Fig. 14)
Fouled air filters diminish the engine output due to re-
duced air supply to the carburettor. Regular inspection
is therefore essential. The air filter should be checked
every 50 operating hours and cleaned as required.
The air filter must be checked more often in case of
very dusty air.
• Loosen air filter cover "i".
• Only clean the paper filter with compressed air or by
tapping it out; replace the filter if it is very dirty.
• Wash out the foam filter with soap and water and
allow to dry, then moisten with a few drops of SEA-
30 oil. Carefully press the excess oil out of the foam
filter.
• The re-assembly takes place in reverse order.
Attention: Never clean the air filter with petrol or
flammable solvents.

Spark plug maintenance / changing the spark plug
(Fig. 15)
Check the spark plug for contamination for the first
time after 10 operating hours and clean it with a cop-
per wire brush if necessary. Then service the spark
plug every 50 operating hours.
• Remove the spark plug connector with a twist.
• Remove the spark plug (j) with a spark plug wrench.
• The re-assembly takes place in reverse order.
Changing oil (Fig. 16 + 17)
NOTE!
Environmental damage!
Spilled oil can pollute the environment permanently.
The liquid is highly toxic and can quickly lead to water
pollution.
- Fill/empty oil only on level, paved surfaces.
- Use a filling nozzle or funnel.
- Collect drained oil in a suitable container.
- Wipe up spilled oil carefully immediately and dis-
pose of the cloth according to local regulations.
- Dispose of oil as per local regulations.
Change the oil at the end of every season. The engine
oil change should be carried out while the motor is at
operating temperature and switched off.
Use only engine oil (SAE 10W-30 or SAE 10W-40).
1.
Place the sickle bar mower on a level, even sur-
face.
2.
Place a suitable collection container under the oil
drain screw (l).
3.
Use an open-end spanner to open the oil drain
screw (l) and drain the engine oil.
4.
After you have drained the engine oil completely,
tighten the oil drain screw (k) again.
5.
Now unscrew the oil filler plug with oil dipstick (k)
anti-clockwise.
6.
Fill up with fresh engine oil and check the oil level.
7.
Then screw the oil filler plug with oil dipstick (k)
back in clockwise.
Maintenance of the mower unit for cutter bar mow-
er
• Check the mower unit for cutter bar mower (10) for
damage, loose screws, broken/damaged blades and
rust before starting work each time.
• Lubricate the blades of the mower with a few drops
of SEA-30 oil.
• Attention: Wear gloves when checking the mowing
unit to avoid cutting injuries.
